We saw the most awesome thing tonight on the way to Bricktown...

We usually take one of the trolley busses on Friday nights down to Bricktown, a popular place with a riverwalk kind of feel to it. We have kind of gotten to know the bus driver, and while he is a fundie, he is the nicest guy. Tonight an obviously homeless girl got on to the bus asking for directions to a shelter. He tried to explain, along with another passenger, a former homeless man, that it was five blocks down and three blocks over. She wasn't getting it. He said, ok, I'll take you as far as I can. She gets on, but only has a metro bus pass, not honored on the trolley bus line. He said, don't worry about it. Have a seat. She had no money. He took her three blocks out of the way and said that he couldn't go any further but if she walked two blocks west then three blocks south, she'd run in to where she was going. She got off relieved. He probably could have gotten into trouble for going off his route, but we were the only other people on the bus, and we didn't mind.
It's just cool to see people helping out others, even those we don't usually think of as compassionate. It was awesome. I told Skip that next Friday when we go, we should stop and get the trolley driver a bottle of water or something to snack on before we get on board.
