Is it a thing for fundy dudes to ignore women and talk only to men?
I ask this because tonight while we were being seated, this guy who I'm assuming is a principal or superintendent at a school, totally ignored my presence and said, "Sir?" to Skip who was behind me. He told him he was about to make a speech and that he was sorry for the disturbance, but did we mind? Skip said no go ahead. He purposely reached PAST me to shake Skip's hand as I was being seated. :wtf: is that about? Am I invisible? He saw me, but he went directly for Skip. Oh I was pissed off and they were the loudest most obnoxious group of people. Our meal was pretty much ruined after that, saved only by the fact that the salad was great and the cheesecake was even better. God, Freeper men suck!

3. No I know liberal guys that do it too.
Happened to me yesterday, First time my boss and I are seated at a table, in conversation waiting on our lunch, and this "professional" came up to the table shook hands with my boss and carried on a ten minute conversation with him, totally ignoring me. He didn't even look in my direction. Then as my boss and I were walking down the street deep in conversation and the same "professional" came along side of us, interrupted the conversation and began a new conversation with my boss. And again, he ignored me.

Some folks are just rude, fundie or liberal.

8. good point
it's not a personal political philosophy problem, it is an attitude problem...An attitude many men have towards women still!

4. I'm sorry you were treated in such a way...
All I can think of are a bunch of gangsters or mobsters and how they treat their women.

5. I've said it before and I'll say it again: fundies hate sex.
That's just about the only logical explanation that I can think of. They hate it. That's why they're constantly trying to ban things like pornography and Janet Jackson. They claim it's for the children but really, they're just so disgusted by the mere mention of sex that they cant take it. That's why they want to ban all forms of it from public places. That's why instead of helping to prevent September 11th with all the clear, blatantly obvious information that we now know, our attorney general would rather waste time and money covering up a naked statue than doing the job he's supposed to be doing.

7. I definitely experienced this more...
Living in Indiana than I do living in Connecticut. Not that I can make that judgment call based on my own experience, but I thought I'd throw it in for consideration. Pissed me off to no end, too, though.

9. I have this little problem.
I SPEAK UP when someone does that to me. I would have said, "Excuse me! Don't reach over me like that. A gentleman would have acknowledged me." I've done it before---I'll do it again!

12. Or he could have just been being overly cautious.
There's a lot of nut cases out there that'll start a fight if someone speaks to "their woman". Sometimes no fight, just the woman gets a little slice of hell for awhile while she's grilled about how she knows him, is she fucking him, was she flirting, etc.

13. How do you know he was a fundie, and not just old fashioned.
I've known young fundamentalists that would never have done that, and old liberals that would have.

I've gotten very strange looks when I go to shake a woman's hand. And strange looks when I've refrained.

It strikes me that that bit of the culture's in chaos. Or, rather, is sharply stratified along lines that are obvious if you know the people, but invisible given mere appearances.
