What are you reading?
I just finished Patricia Cornwell's Jack the Ripper Book. I am now reading 900 Days: The Siege of Leningrad by Harrison Salisbury. Both have turned out to be excellent and incredibly readable.

4. In the Presence of Mine Enemies
a new alternate history novel by Harry Turtledove. Germany won WWII. It's about 2010, and despite the fact that all Jews have been eliminated in the large part of the world under Nazi control, there are still secret, hidden Jews.

Turtledove writes wonderful alternate history. One of my favorites is "Guns of the South" in which South Africans from the early 21st century go back to 1862 and arm the South with AK-47s.

5. I Just Finished
Sceinfitic American's special edition entitled "New Light on the Solar System". It was spectacular! Everything from the sun to the Oort Cloud. Not only new photos from flyovers, but a lot of new theory about planet composition and formation. Rings, magnetism, vulanism, the carbon cycle, collisions -- all kinds of things that change what I learned in school.

I also woke up this morning and finished "A Haircut in Horse Town and Other Car Talk Puzzlers."

9. Astronomy
is the one science that I really love. I like reading about black holes, quasars, supernovas and such, because they are among the Universe's most powerful forces.

10. Gideon's Spies: Secret History of the Mossad
by Gordon Thomas - it's for school and a paper I have to write, but it's pretty interesting. Starts off with a story about how the Mossad was trying to recruit this guy at a hotel, and the guy turned out to be the driver who killed Princess Di and Dodi. I'd never heard that before.

(To preempt the tinfoil: the book makes is it clear there is NO evidence the Mossad was behind the car crash, except to say that perhaps the pressure they were putting on the driver may have contributed to his increased drinking/drug use.)

17. "The Hunting Of The President"
By Joe Conason.

It's about the GOP's dirty tricks on the Clintons. I'm sure many of you have read or heard of the book.

I found it at a Goodwill store last week. Very good read.
