Any eBay experts here?
Okay, heres my problem. I received an alert on my eBay account. The seller claims I haven't paid for item. Not true. Only problem is, I did something I NEVER do. I sent cash. I was a little late & overlooked this item & felt bad so I sent them cash for the item. I have no receipt backing up my claim. However, this seller has already left me positive feedback as I have for them. I sent a response telling them I have the item & I paid for it & YOU even left me positive feedback.

Now, my question. Is there a way for me to dorect soemone at eBay about this directly? There are SO MANY links to problems & so on & I would just like to email someone & tell them my problem & see if I can counter/fight this. I have an EXCELLENT record on eBay & would not be happy to have this black mark on my account. Many thanks all!

1. Something similar happened to me. I bought something at a very
low price and I know the seller didn't want to let it go for what I bid. The seller kept sending me emails saying I should pay and I kept answering the emails asking where to send money order. The emails would go into a loop and I would get another saying the same. Anyway, he filed a complaint with eBay and they sent me an email. Thank God I had all my responses which were several, and the seller's responses, and I pointed out what the problem was. eBay was great and, after I sent them copies of my emails, they emailed me back saying they had taken the mark off of my record. I would imagine that your positive feedback from the seller would prove to the people at eBay that you did indeed pay - why else would he give you positive feedback? Sounds like you have a winning case here; just contact eBay and let them know what happened. I was very impressed with them.

2. I'm an Ebay seller - What did you learn today?
Just kidding. That's the response you'd get on the Ebay boards.

I would never advise anyone to send cash as you know. My advice is that if the amount was small (under $10) call it a wash and hope your seller is understanding. If the seller is an asshole, take it up with Ebay. Save all emails as well.

In the future, if you need to send cash ask the PO to verify the amount you have sent. Do not seal the envelope so the PO peeps can see the amount sent. They just initial the receipt. I don't know if all PO's do this. Maybe it's my wonderful post office. Really great people.

I'm sorry that you're going through this. I hope this helps.

3. I almsot NEVER send cash
Tghe very few times I have I had no problems. This was a $30 item & I got the item, so I didn't get ripped off. This could be an honest mistake on the seller's part. However, I have never received ANY emails about this. If you were a seller & sold something & honestly thought the buyer didn't pay, wouldn't you first contact the buyer? I have not received ANY emails, so theres nothing there for me to use against this person other than their own positive feedback. What worries me is, will that be enough?

5. I would absolutely contact the buyer first.
Why in the world would he send it if no payment was received? If he didn't recieve pay and shipped than he is a poor business person and there is no reason for him to take it out on you. I'm not sure what is going on here. Can you give me the item number? I understand if you don't want to. Privacy issues.

4. Never send cash
is the first rule. If you send a money order or a check or even use paypal you can prove payment. I've been selling on Ebay for 2 years and I'd never send cash to anyone I didn't know.

6. Perhaps the seller made an error in their bookkeeping.
I am hoping that once they read your email they will realize that perhaps they made a mistake with bidder identification. :hi:

7. I hope so
I'm not sure who to contact at eBay about this. I don't want to ignore it. I want to appeal this if possible. Seems like the seller has more rights than the buyer.

8. it's dificult to contact ebay
whether you are a buyer or a seller. you can go to live help (the link to live help is at the top left of most ebay pages) tho live help is rarely helpful. you can also contact customer service here: http://pages.ebay.com/help/contact_us/_base/index.html altho you will likely get a response encouraging you to work this out with the seller.

your best course of action is to respond directly to the dispute - there should be a link in the email you received, and state that, not only has item been paid for, it has been received and feedback left. keep responding every time the seller responds and keep track of the whole exchange.

not that it will make you feel any better, but it takes 3 unpaid strikes to get a suspended account.
