God gave rock 'n roll to you
put it the soul of everyone
(everyone? I think not. It is in mine; though)

1. I agree w/ the sentiment, though not the band.
Not enough soul to make it rock n' roll, at least for me.

2. You know, KISS did a cover of that song.
It was in the soundtrack to "Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey".

5. Sorry, did I offend an Argent fan?
And did they record anything that wasn't later and more successfully recorded by someone else?

Sad thing, Argent was at least acceptable, but it's about the only Kiss song I ever liked.

3. I have a cover of that by Unrest on a nice picture-sleeve 7" from DC days.
Thanks for the reminder.

The original by Argent was not half bad either.

4. Are you ready to testify?
Brothers and sisters, I wanna see a sea of hands out there... I want everybody to kick up some noise, I wanna hear some revolution... Brothers and sisters, the time has come for each and every one of you to decide whether you are going to be the problem or whether you are going to be the solution! You must choose, brothers, you must choose. It takes five seconds, five seconds of decision, five seconds to realize your purpose here on this planet. It takes five seconds to realize that it's time to move, it's time to get down with it. Brothers, it's time to testify. And I want to know -- are you ready to testify? ARE YOU READY?! I give you a testimonial: THE MC5!!"

6. Is that the cue for the PETRA sing along?

You can learn to dance
Or you can be a square
You can let the music take you anywhere
But where will you be when the music's gone

You can learn to sing
You can play guitar
You can learn to rock
You can be a star

(Chorus)
God gave rock and roll to you
Gave rock and roll to you
Put it in the soul of everyone

If you love the sound
Then don't forget the source
You can turn around
You can change your course
'Cause it's never too late to change your mind

You can love the rock
And let Him free your soul
Or you can let the old man take his toll
It's never too late to change your mind

(Chorus)

7. Wow.. I didn't realize KISS wasn't the original artist
color me surprised.

Also didn't realize that Petra had re-covered it. Kinda like an old couch.
