Whoah, there's this tripped-out thing I found in Wikipedia!
Someone in a thread in GD mentioned Fourier, a socialist thinker before Marx, and I was curious as to how his system differed from Marxism, so I looked it up on Wikipedia. And in the article I find this:

Up and coming, to the misfortune of greater society and not to those who lived according to Fourier, was an age of drudgery and poverty. Also slated to hit planet Earth was the anti-bear, the anti-whale, and many more anti-creatures.

WHAT IS THIS??!!

2. Oh shoot, I didn't notice this.
I guess it mentions before that, that he had his own religion that included the anti-bear and anti-whale. I think this sleep deprivation is starting to catch up to me, plus the article seems to be translated, so maybe that made it a little hard to read.

3. Check and see if it's still there tomorrow
Sometimes people put random shit in the middle of Wikipedia entries just for their own amusement.

4. That would've been really funny...
...but I found out it's supposed to be there. But yeah, that's what I thought it was, just some fucked up stuff that sounds like you make up when you're stoned.

6. Well, I remember once
One DUer wrote an article on Howard Wolpe (I think), a former Dem congressman from Mich. and then gave DU permission to vandalize his article as they saw fit, so someone promptly added their own section on Wolpe's homosexual affair with Rick Santorum! :D

It was gone the next morning.

5. Some other info about Fourier
This site offers a lot of other links as well.

<snip>
Fourier was not ready to discard capitalism completely; basically his ideal was an agricultural society, systematically arranged. His writings anticipated the 20th-century social problems resulting from mechanization and industrialization.

From one of the other links, I especially like this line:
The Utopian socialist Fourier saw the cabbage as the emblem of mysterious love.

Aha! So THAT explains that weird craze, love and need to adopt Cabbage Head Dolls!!! Man...I never understood that until now :rofl:
