Regrets: Things on my list to do before I die that are impossible now
1. Fly on the Concorde to Paris
2. Eat at Windows on the World (at the top of the WTC)
3. See the Forbidden City in China before it has been overrun by capitalism.

4. WOTW was an awesome place...
The food was very good, but the views, WOW. The next closest I've ever been in is at the Hancock Building in Chicago, on the 95th floor. It kind of paled in comparison, IMO.

I'm fearing right now that going to Mardi Gras may be the next thing to go on my list. I'm hoping for the best for NOLA, but things honestly don't look good right now. :(

5. My only regret is that I waited until I was 32
before I started living a healthy lifestyle. I wish I would have started when I was a teenager. I wish I never would have polluted my body in the first place. Not much I can do about that now, though.

8. Punched Pauly Shore in the face
Hard. Dozens of times.

That's just me though.

15. Why Pauly Shore?
I mean, he's not the Gregory Peck of his generation or anything, but--is he also horrible in some way one of your fellow DUers should be aware of?

23. I could have had the opportunity!
I guess I blew it. :P Suprisingly enough, he also walks around with a body guard.

I met him once on the beach in Lake Tahoe, CA. As lame in person as on TV/in the movies...kind of arrogant too..we were trying to figure out who he was, because he was recognizable and he said "what are you looking at, man?" And, then he just kinda helped himself to having a seat with us even though he was rude. He acted stoned, was wearing short 1960s style boyshorts that were riding up his ass and a hat that said "strip club".. Strange dude.

11. Climb Mount Chimborazo
in Ecuador, the furthest point from the center of mass of the earth. I would have had to train through my teens and twenties.

I've heard of people that have finished triathalons with just a year of training.

17. It depresses me that I won't see Europe as a free-wheeling
college kid. Being that I've finished college and "grown up."

It also depresses me that I'll never be young and in love again. Because I'm not so young anymore, and I don't care about being in love.

Let me see--I wonder if a change of address will ever excite or challenge me again, seeing as how the wonder and mystery of far off places is kind of dulled for me by my advancing middle age.

And then there's that whole having a family thing. I never wanted that, but I consider it impossible for me at this stage (DON'T ASK) and not being able to do that before I die is a little--well, as much as I rip people who are choosing to do that at this time--at moments like these, when the grass looks greener on your side of the fence, I kinda get while you all decided to do that.

One dream of mine involved somehow getting to work at the White House. I don't think I'll get to do that again with anywhere near the same kind of pride I could have had working there before Bush shit all over everything in the executive branch, especially the way it looks in the public's mind.

24. I completely understand.
Feel the same way here at 37. I'm NOT a depressive, and I'm actually a pretty laid=back, happy person naturally, but over time I also feel that after a while on this earth, things just start getting old.

Also childless here, the one thing about children (and then grandchildren) is that it allows people to kind of enjoy life as a child again vicariously.

Maybe you're just a wise soul really, maybe it's time to head off to a forest monastery and seek Enlightenment! I think about that, but I would have to give up drinking and "smoke" first. Which maybe I will someday!

20. Why regrets, you didn't cause any of this things to be impossible
now and you are still alive. Your inability to visit the places or take the ride is due to conditions outside of your control, thus you were not destined to complete those 3. Your duty is to revise the list to include 3 new items. If you don't do those before you die, then you can have regrets. ;-)

22. I am hunkered down and safe!
Things really haven't begun yet, some rain, some light winds. It is still coming this way. I'll stay on line as long as the internet and electricity hold out. Things are calm now.

:spank: Don't you dare have regrets about things you have no control over. Life is too short to put that much of a burden on yourself. Make a new list! You have time yet to see the new desires come to fruition.

You really put your finger right on the core issue...I had NEVER thought of it that way...

And I agree completely...I always say "Don't worry about stuff you have no control over."

26. Hello Peggy!
So good to see you

That's how I feel about this storm, I have taken to high ground, I may not have my house come Tuesday, but I can't worry about that now. I'll just experience this as best I can and hang out with my DU family for as long as the electricity and the internet hold out.

Rains are now a little heavier, I guess a band from the Hurricane is coming my way. :hi:

:loveya:
