Hey, Beantown is pretty cool
So I went to Beantown this past weekend with mom for a medical conference, and it was pretty cool. We almost got killed at the Fleet Center 'cause we were cheering for the Nets though. I got a good giggle at all the "Yankees Suck" shirts and things I saw. I was a good girl and left my Derek Jeter shirt at home. You got some crazy ass sports fans in that town. :)

The best part of our little mini-vacation was probably the JFK Museum. It was a deeply moving experience, and I don't get choked up that easily. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Boston. The beginning of the exhibits reminded me of the old Carousel of Progress at Disneyland, with all the old posters and tv commercials. My favorite part was probably towards the end where they showed all the memorials to JFK all over the world. It's sort of mindboggling to think about how much he was loved all over the world, particularly when we've got such a prick in office right now pissing everyone off. There was also a 20 minute film on the Cuban Missile Crisis with some quotes that were pretty hilarious, considering we were watching it only a couple days after the Senate committee voted on the travel ban. There were quite a few chuckles in the small audience.

The food was great, and everyone was really nice. The only complaint I had was that it was too damn cold to really do anything. I will definitely make an effort to come back when it's warmer and I can walk around. Also, do you know the streets there make no sense whatsoever? Seriously. And it's impossible to find a cab. Barbarians! :P

Well that's my little report. Beantown gets two thumbs up from this New Yorker. It would be a nice spot for a DU gathering...when it's warm. :)

1. Claim is the Boston street system was laid out by cows
I don't know if that's true or not, but it's as good an explanation as any. :-)

2. Glad you liked our little town!
There is a lot of history here, and one could spend several weekends and still no see all there is to see.

Sometimes I think there can be no more of a bone chilling cold than Boston, particularly when the breeze..and I use that word lightly..is coming off the water. But in the Spring and Fall, Boston is a great place to be.

But answer this question, if you would...Just where is the challange if the streets make sense? You can probably get a better feel of the city when you get lost in it!:hi:
