Er, "evaluate", to determine newsworthiness, that is. Freakin' Paris Hilton video may or may not be an important social document, but as a Mac OS9 user, I can't "evaluate" it because it's encoded with WM9.

Conclusion: Bill Gates is a prude, is against free expression, and probably doesn't support the troops. Discuss.

:silly:

1. Sorry to hear that.
You're still on OS9, huh? I was an OS9 kid until about three months ago.

How's it working for you?

3. You know...
I'd be more than happy to re-encode this piece of social documentary to a format more suitable for Macs.

If you'd care to point me to the movie in a private message, I'm sure we can work something out :)

6. There Might Be Something Here
Or possibly a link to another site that can help: http://www.macfixit.com/

I use WinXP but I bookmarked the site for the Mac users that occassionally need some assistance.

7. He wants you to use Windows! (though you'd be shocked at my comment below)

If it's not in an open format that all can use, it's not worth reading.

I may not like Apple's closed-market philosophies or exorbitant prices, but I prefer competition at least existing!

9. Hypno, you do realize Apple joined Open Source Movement a while ago?

http://developer.apple.com/darwin/ps-faq.html

"Q. Why is Apple opening up its source?
We believe the open source model is the most effective form of development for certain types of software. By pooling expertise with the open source development community, we expect to improve the quality, performance and feature set of our software.

Secondly, we realize many developers enjoy working with open source software, and we want to provide them the opportunity to use that kind of environment while delivering solutions for Apple customers."

Darwin

"Darwin is the core of Mac OS X. The Darwin kernel is based on FreeBSD and Mach 3.0technologies and provides protected memory and pre-emptive multitasking. Darwin runs on PowerPC-based Macintosh computers and a version is also available for x86-compatible computers."

On Edit: can't ever get a post right the 1st time
