JVS's and my father is dying.

Colon cancer diagosed ~3 years ago.

He has been deterioriating... saw him today... looked bad... stomach distended, eyes sunken, skin jaundiced, and lacking the mental acuity he always used to destroy any of the family in an argument. Enough appitite to knock back 3 wings and 2 pints of beer - but not enough strength to make the 50 foot wal between the table and car without a rest.

at a time when so many are so fucked, i feel awful for even complaining about my own problems here 1100 feeet above sea level in a dry house with electricity, running water, and my loved ones a phone call away....

My mom died of colon cancer back in 1987; it wasn't pretty. So I can say that I sort of know what you're going through, but of course I can't really. Hang in there - you guys have lots of friends here on DU.

it's hard, and it won't get easier. My mother passed away 2 years after being diagnosed with colon cancer. I'm still angry .. you will feel every emotion imagineable.

I can't say anything that could comfort you... I wish I could, but I don't know how, I've never experienced such a loss.
One thing though, you and JVS are great guys, and that says your Dad must be a terrific guy too.

I remember how difficult it was when my grandmother had colon cancer. It spread to her liver, which was what killed her ultimately. Love him while you can, dear. :hug:
