Rickie Lee Jones doesn't like President Bush -- either President Bush. On her new album, "The Evening of My Best Day," the trippy rock poetess of decades past gets pointedly political.

At Lisner Auditorium on Sunday night, Jones played a set of nearly two hours that included sharp attacks on Bush. Urging Americans to "take your country back," she criticized the handling of the 2000 election and delivered broadsides in songs such as the gospel-soaked "Tell Somebody (Repeal the Patriot Act Now)" and the acidic "Ugly Man," which coats in a sly and tenderly jazzy embrace such lines as "He'll look you in the eyes and tell you lies, like his father."

I've always kinda liked Rickie lee, but she somehow didn't make the transition from vinyl to cd in my house.

I kinda had a whiskey with her once. She was playing at this place that served drinks. I'd had a Jack Daniel's and was thinking of another. She had a big bottle on stage with her, and said something about sharing. So I went to the stage, she poured some in my empty glass, I toasted her and knocked it back. 1st, possibly 2nd tour for her.
