1 Month (4 weeks) SMOKE FREE!!!-lost 20 pounds too |
|
Wow what a difference it makes in everything.
My wife says I look 5 years younger. I have run out of my neighborhood (have to find new places to go for morning runs). Unbelieveable difference in breathing and lung capacity. No more worrying about having enough smokes/where to stop/etc every single day. Yeah yeah yeah the money-personally anyone who brings that up first is on my X list. Eating much healthier too-that has a lot to do with the weight loss...that and the 200-300 situps a day and working out regularly.
I'm still on the patch (21MG) but I might try seeing if I can go off it for a while just to see if I last-I just realized that today's patch is in my breast pocket forgot to put it on yet. I am supposed to be on 21MG for another two weeks then 14 then 7. We'll see.
If you need any gum consultation let me know-I am quite the expert at this point.
WOO freakin' HOO

13. Just patches-Switched to the CVS brand from NicoDerm |
|
the CVS is a little cheaper and they stick better-I have found. It is just a nicotine delivery system so who cares what brand name is on them?
I dind't double up with the nicotine gum but I have chewed the hell out of some gum-I recommend Wrigley products (made in USA and Canada) especially Eclipse and Orbitz (nice carrying case) avoid any of their Cinnamon flavors though-VERY strong IMHO.
The worst part is the first 4 or 5 days. You are constantly thinking about it. Once you get to a week you "don't want to give up those days" as our pediatrician said. Once you are in double digits you probably really wanted to quit anyway and you aren't going to want to "give up those days" at that point.

and ask some of the people who have quit for a long time. Basically you have to really want it and (my tip) don't think about when you will have another one ("I only have to go.....") just get in the mind set that you just aren't going to do that anymore and then prepare for the pain.
Exercise is a great way to feel immediate results of not smoking anymore.

It's been 4 years and I've only got 5 lbs. yet to lose.

30 days is a major victory. When you hit 100 days then you got it beat. I was a major habitual 2 pack a day smoker. Then I quit cold turkey 5 years 9 months ago and had not one drag since.

Yes 100 days is the number that I keep hearing. My stepfather tells me that you will always want one. My father-in-law (had his last on the way to the hospital for his first open heart surgery at age 36) says he only wants one, THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS long

43. Isn't it grand....(Smoke free for 9 months)... |
|
Congratulations Underpants...This is more than a start, this is well on your way....
...What motivated my son and I to quit was as the baby (his baby, my grandson) was getting older and becoming more aware that his dad and/or grandma would sneak out the back door every 20 minutes or so and then come back in smelling like a pig. I'd see him press his face against the screen door and hear him call out our names after us.
My son used the patch...I went 'cold turkey'...

Yeah one of the main reasons I quit was (aside from being the best opportunity I will have-watershed moment) that I would have to shower every time to avoid the increased risk of SIDS. Not that I am a stranger to showering just that it seemed like a sign that if you really need to go to all that trouble you really need to rethink this.
Great going Tikki. Isn't it weird thinking about how you used to live? How you used to check how many you had before going home for the day/night? How you used to have to think about it on a daily basis? How often you left the house (I used to just walk down the block to a corner store) or stopped ONLY for smokes? I still get out of the car at work from time to time and do my "gear" check-Wallet? Check--- Keys(front left pocket)? Check ----Lighter...oh that's right I don't smoke anymore.

That's awesome! As you know, I'm two weeks smoke free! And I've lost 7 lbs lol! Everyone said I would gain weight, and I have been eating a ton of crap, but I have also stayed so busy I guess I'm working it off lol! I'm feeling so much better. I felt good before, I thought. Now, it's like...wow. I must have been delusional lol! I am newly addicted to doublemint gum!

first, thanks
Now about gum-I have become quite the expert.
Trident SUCKS
Go with Eclipse or Orbit-both Wrigley made (US and Canda) and they are quite good AND sugarfree. I would avoid their cinnamon flavors-some say it is good for quitting smoking some say bad I say that Wrigley's cinnamon is a bit too strong.
Orbit orangemint (if you can find it )is simply the best ever.
Oh both kinds are bubble gum too. It doesn't say that on the package but it is. Very good.
I just picked up the JuicyFruit Strappleberry and Grapermelon-no good. No buubles, flavor is gone in about 2 minutes, and they get rather rubbery very quick.
