CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. -- A farmer's corny appeal for love may be working.

Upstate New York farmer Pieter DeHond planted a personal ad in corn. Now, he says, he's gotten more than 700 replies.

The ad -- in 50-foot letters -- said: "SWF, got to love farming." The stunt generated nationwide media attention.

DeHond said he's only responded to one of the hundreds of women who contacted him. He said she had a pizza delivered to his farmhouse door, along with a note, her first name and phone number.

DeHond said it seemed like a nice thing to do. He's contacted her and told the Canandaigua Daily Messenger that she's very attractive. DeHond said they may plan a face-to-face meeting.
