Could someone cheer me up? |
|
I'm having "one of those days," as I think a lot of us are, not only w.r.t. Katrina, but with other things in my life.
Something funny, something kind, a piece of good news, whatever.

9. Seriously, think about the decent people doing what they can just because |
|
Like folks with their own boats going into that poisonous water to do what they can to get stranded people to safety. And the folk who were out in the water, braving snakes and downed power lines to save as many pets as they could.
Think of the decent people who made such a fuss about bush going to a fundraiser Monday night that his handlers poured him into AF1 and sent him back to the office to at least look busy. Thousands of people raised bloody hell.
Think about the folks who were ready and waiting when FEMA needed them. They put their lives on hold because they were needed. They are decent, caring, loving people.
People like all the above are the majority. The whiners and pricks get more press, but most people are decent enough to do the right thing when they see what that is. For some, we just need to nudge them a bit and give them direction.
And the next time you see bush in jeans and a big ol belt buckle, remember this: A big belt buckle is really a tombstone for a dead dick.

:grouphug:
We were visited yesterday by two of my sisters friends from work. One of the ladies brought her two little boys and we painted halloween ornaments for a Halloween tree even though it is a little early.
One of the little boys hasn't been feeling well but the good news is his blood tests have come back as negative for anything serious so far. So we are really happy about that.
He even wants to go camping instead of going back to school so must be he is feeling better.
Small pieces of good news happen every day even when the larger picture looks bleak. I guess the small moments are what we need to hold on to.

I myself retreated into my kitchen with Betty Crocker for escapism today. I spent the bulk of the afternoon making oh-so-fussy Chicken Versailles for supper, and homemade banana cake with lemon frosting for dessert.
You want banana cake?
