funny. Federal gas taxes are less than 20 cents a gallon. State gas taxes are about the same

so what about the other several dollars a gallon?

1. Yep, that's right, every state has managed to raise their gas tax $1.50
in the last month.

7. That's what Bush was saying in 99.
He recommended against raiding the reserves, back when gas was 1.60. He said he would "jawbone" the Saudis and eliminate the gas tax to lower fuel costs.

Well, the new pork-laden highway bill is funded by that gas tax.

10. But but...
What are they moaning about? The taxes must have been raised by a government that they elected, right? Or am I completely off track here?

I have NO idea of the accuracy of that chart. And I'm not in the mood to do a more thorough search.

12. Freeper logic for you
Blame taxes and/or "libruls" for everything. Anything to do with high prices automatically is because of the taxes associated with it (which is always the fault of the libruls, even if all of the taxes on the product/service in question were tacked on by Rethugs). It doesn't matter if the taxes amount to only .05% of the cost of the product/service, they are still to blame for the high cost. :eyes:
