Did Shrub just do a shout out to Texas??? |
|
:wtf:
Dude, you are NOT a rock star, this is not an acceptance speech.
I can't believe he just HAD to find a way to acknowledge Texas, and make a little jab at the fact that he was TAKEN from his illustrious vacation.
Such a royal, fuckin' asshat!
 :grr:

3. Oh, I know--what about him saying he FLEW over the scene... |
|
Just kind of added to his very obvious 'hands off' attitude toward all of this.
We need an asshat smiley desperately...

21. He Flew Over New Orleans IN AIR FORCE ONE... At THIRTY-THOUSAND FEET!!! |
|
That's NOT the same thing as taking a helicopter tour of the area and seeing the devastation up-close. If he was too high up to be able to read stop-signs, then he was TOO HIGH UP to get a feel for how horrible the scene really is.

22. I'm promoting him to ass-clown... |
|
I can't believe him sometimes. Then I get angry at myself for expecting just a little bit more than he and his boys are capable of.
Was it Rumsfeld that was standing next to him, practically grinning during the speech?

2. Yes he did. It was shameful. A NO kid said "He ain't president no more." |
|
He's a N.O. refugee and was asked, "What did you think of the presidents's address?" "He ain't president no more! President Bush don't know what he's doin!" http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4533014

27. Saw a guy in my office building today... |
|
wearing a black "He's not MY President" t-shirt... I was surprised to see that in those environs, must have been a visitor. As I passed him, I said "he's not my president either..."

28. Oddly, seeing stuff like that comforts me. |
|
Makes me feel less alone, if that makes sense.
I love the occasional original t-shirt, bumper sticker, bracelet wearer, etc. They give me a weird sense of hope... So goofy of me to derive a sense of hope from a slogan on a shirt. LOL!

6. I'm sorry ((Texasgal)), I wish I could...but it's true |
|
He was starting the speech. It was clear he didn't know what to say--maybe whoever was pitching him the speech in his earpiece wasn't quite ready, but he seemed like he had no idea what to say.
Then out of the blue, he says something to the affect of,"I'd like to acknowledge the great state of Texas--and the great work they did at the Superdome. Texas,is doing great things with the Astrodome blah, blah...Gotta thank Texas..."
Not shittin' you.
Then I just saw the Gov. of Texas saying,"Such a blessing that this thing didn't hit Houston!"
:wtf: Of course it's a blessing it didn't--but did it have to be SAID? Isn't that a bit callous toward those it DID hit?
No offense to Texas, but he sounded like he had asshat tendencies...

My husband's family survived the storm up in Lacombe near Slidell. We just heard from them on Tuesday via a ham radio message.
He's a native of New Orleans and I used to have family there and in Orange Beach, AL. We are heartsick.

How rude of nature and god to have created this pesky storm, destroying hundreds of homes and people in it's path. What were we thinking expecting him to address the nation?
Quick, someone send that man BACK to his ranch so he can finish working on his tan.
