What good did Air Force One touring the damage really do?
I know it is hard for a President in a time of crisis to deal with it. I know there is an abundance of other stuff to pick on Dubya for that amounts to more than this does.

But really, what did his little tour accomplish that video from helicoptors could not? Since he didn't bother to touch down, it just seemed to be a waste of fuel.

1. made the reporters feel better obviously
they were in a swoon about the "symbolism" on my Texas station.

If I was on a roof I'd be pissed. Just another aircraft passing by.

They were thinking, hey, drop a rope, drop some food!

2. Bush got his picture taken looking at the damage. They let photographers
and cameramen in with him for 15 minutes to take pictures of him while he looked.

3. He could have gotten his picture taken on the ground
All these people are without power. They don't know he was touring the damage. Was that supposed to comfort them? The President is watching from his fortress in the sky, everybody!!

Just a waste of fuel, that now costs probably 80 dollars a gallon for that aircraft.

4. That was the entire reason.
You don't have to be a cynic to get that. On MSNBC they said it flat out - he flew over, and they let the press come up to see him seeing.

6. The first photo I saw, just showed him looking out and I assumed
he was probably shocked and touched.

Then I saw the video footage from MSNBC showing the photographers moving around him to get good shots of him staring out the window.

It showed it to be the worthless photo-op that it really was today.

but three hours after the former mayor of NOLA was on CNN pleading for help in a way that was shaming to the administration (at least to the one or two asswits that has a vestige of conscience left) Chimpy McFucknuts was doing a photo op, pretending that 'all them li'l ants swimmin' around down 'ere' were part of his greatest concerns.

I was not fooled. He should have stayed on vacation-even extended it.

Christ. What an asshole.

12. He serves no purpose at all.
He should just stay home and let the grown ups handle this one.
