I need your DU perspective. What do you make of this:
I was just at a town hall meeting about a business in the neighborhood. From the looks of it, the people are about evenly divided over supporting the business' plans to make improvements (facade, soundproofing, etc.) and not supporting it.

I'm an enthusiastic supporter of it because I hang out there, the boyfriend's livelihood comes in part from there, most of the employees are friends I've had for years and not supporting it might put them out of work.

Well anyhoo, at the end of a pretty heated meeting where the non-supporters shouted down the supporters and badgered the owner, we were milling about in the hallway and this lady comes out to announce that "questions from neighbors only" i.e. people who live in a block or two radius, were now being heard.

I say to her, "Would you mind repeating that announcement in the meeting hall please? I think some of the employees are in there, some of whom live here, and may not have heard you. I'm sure they'd like the chance to say something too."

She says "no, I don't want to hear about that," and goes back inside.

I'm not technically a neighbor by her definition, but then she's wasn't in charge of the meeting either.

Any thoughts on this?
