Californians...Protest Arnie on Monday.
Action Alert
Monday, November 17, 10:30am
California Women Speak Out:
Rally/Press Conference at the Schwarzenegger Inauguration

Arnold Schwarzenegger made a campaign promise to be a “champion of women.” And the thousands of us who protested him across the state plan to hold him to his word. With a big presence in Sacramento, we are going to speak out loud and clear -- California women are galvanized, united and more determined than ever.

As Schwarzenegger makes his inauguration speech, we’ll be outside listening. Help us respond to his speech at a rally/press conference: Did he address the REAL issues that affect California women and girls? Is he going to investigate the sexual harassment allegations as he promised?

When Schwarzenegger takes office with all the eyes of the world watching via the national and international media, it is critical for the women of California to have a presence there and speak out. Let Arnold and the world know we haven't gone away!

Take the day off work and make your voice heard. Organize carpools and buses from your hometown! Forward this alert to all of your lists and friends in California.

Where: At the Capitol, outside the inauguration, Sacramento. We'll have more specific information soon.

Sponsored by CodePink.

1. Call me an idiot arnie fanboy
But shouldn't we wait until these allegations are proven true before condemning him?

I'm not saying whether or not they took place -- quite fankly I don't know. But what ever happened until innocent until proven guilty?

People claim to have been groped by Elvis, but it doesn't necessarily make it true.

Now, if you don't like Ahnold for his politics, I can see that and respect it. But I think the jury's still out on this topic.

2. I don't like Arnie for his politics
and his statements about women. I'm willing to protest his recall of an elected Governor. I also believe the news reports about what he says about women. Support an investigation, because he does not. He wants a privately funded investigation. The man has 15 to 20 women who came forward and talked about horrific sexual harrassment. He gave a blanket apology which acknowledged many improprieties. That's enough for me to demand an investigation.

Whatever...Don't come to the rally but I hope others will.

5. he admitted some of the allegations are true
but he won't be specific. he admitted "where there's smoke there's fire". but he won't agree to a public investigation. he's obviously in damage control mode. he's still trying to smear the women who accused him. his remarks make it clear he still doesn't "get it". just based on what he's said so far, there's enough to justify a strong protest.

3. sounds interesting!
though I've taken off too much this month to be able to attend :(

no matter, I have a feeling this won't be the last time he'll do something protest-worthy. Just wait until he signs that Enron settlement! :grr:

4. Why wait until they're proven true?
Take a move from the Repuke playbook: Rumor alone is sufficient proof of guilt. Impeach Arnie! Because we feel like it.
