I just applied to rescue a bulldog. |
|
I hope I get a chance to rescue the one little girl on the rescue page. She's a cutie, and is real healthy with a good temperament. She'd fit in well with me and my other girls, human and canine! Wish me luck! PS - I love bulldogs!

It does my heart good to see folks adopting older dogs, and especially dogs in need...
I think she'll be a blessing for your fmaily!

I remember applying to adopt my dog, Neo, from a rescue group. The application took hours and then there was a home visit. I was really nervous, hoping that I'd be approved. He's at my feet now, I've had him since 09/02 and can't imagine life without him. Bulldogs are a great breed though I've never had one, hope to hear that he's with you soon.

2. We rescued/fostered an older mix |
|
In August, from a kill shelter. He was literally an hour or so from the needle when we got him.
He had some issues at first, but eventually settled down and turned out to be a nice dog. He just went to his new adoptive home last week.
We miss him, but have e-mail from the new family, and he's happy and doing well.
It's a great feeling to know we did the poor guy some good!

That's fantastic!
One bit of advice: just make sure the dog has been checked for heartworms.
I began the adoption procedure on an elderly German Shepherd once, only to find out that he had such a dire case of heartworms that it would have cost me over $1,000 to treat him.
I hated it. The story has a good ending, though. The policeman who ran the animal rescue shelter fell in love with the dog and took him home to live out his last days.

My husband and I have been thinking about rescuing a bulldog. If you are accepted I would really like to read about your experience. Good luck.

9. Well, I will keep you all posted if I get accepted. |
|
I'm trying to be hopeful, but there are a couple of reasons why I'm not optimistic: I live pretty far away from the rescue place (3 hours), and the particular dog that I want appears to be perfect, so I'm sure there will be lots of other people willing to take her.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
