6. I had a chicken who could catch little cheese balls in its beak |
|
When I lived on a half acre I had some rhode island red chickens and some mallard ducks. There was a chicken who had a cage drop on her back when she was a chick and had her body all messed up. She had a very crooked walk but could catch things in her beak. I used to roll up little balls of cheese and that chicken could catch them on the fly, without dropping a single one.
I also had a couple of ducks that were born in my house when I put their eggs on an electric blanket. One of them could fly straight up in the air like a helicopter and catch pieces of lettuce heart in its beak. Those ducks learned how to open my back screen door with their beaks and would often come inside and beg for food. Sometimes when I came back from the store, I would find the ducks waiting for me inside the house at my front door.

7. Our dog can eat rabbit poop. |

And our rabbit can jump 2 feet straight up and turn 180 degrees midair. It's pretty cool.

11. My current dogs aren't too trick spectacular |
|
Edited on Sat Sep-10-05 05:58 PM by ismnotwasm
My husband's old dog Shelly aka "shithead" lived for 17 years and she knew a lot of tricks. If, god forbid, someone farted loudly around her, he would say "shame" and she would hid her head under her paw. Cracked me up, although I didn't think it fair she had to take the blame. :-) Edit 'cause I'm a lousy typist

sit, lay down, shake left and right-handed, speak, do the conga and high-five with both paws all on command. Which he can do both by visual cues and by stating the word.
He can respond to directions in all of the romance languages, (we cheat, we use the visual cue and then say the word in another language)
But his greatest feat is that he understands sentences. This ability to take several words and put them together into a response really blows my mind.
"Give kitty kisses" and he goes over and kisses the cat. I can also tell him to go give Daddy a kiss and he will go over and give Dad a kiss. He knows all of the family's names, "Go wake up Tommy," and he will go downstairs and wake up my son, the same with "Go wake up Daddy," and he goes upstairs to wake up Dad. There is never any confusion. And there is no trickery.
