2. "Do you remember..."
"Do you remember Rick Astley?
He had a great big hit, it was ghastley...
He said 'I'm never gonna give you up or let you down..."
Well, I'm here to tell you that Dick's a clown.'

11. And Rick Astley spoketh, saying
Edited on Sun Sep-11-05 05:06 PM by asthmaticeog
1) I've been stood up and messed around and taken for a fool

2) But next time around I'm gonna change the rules

3) And I don't care about the things that people say

4) It's you I think about each and every day

5) It's much to late for you to change your ways

6) I can't keep holding on expecting you to stay

7) When you're all alone and if you're feeling down, call me, I'll be around

From "Whenever You Need Somebody."

Annotations:

1) This verse refers to His harsh treatment - His crucifixion, if you will - in the hip music press.

2) A prophecy of His second coming

3) A restatement of His omnipotence...

4) ...followed by a reassurement to the faithful that He is indeed Lord, and will care for them.

5) Here He condemns the wicked...

6) ...and rebukes the gentiles...

7) ...but speaks again to those who know His divine nature, underscoring the power of prayer to enable the flock to achieve Earthly power and succor through His Grace.

7. I'll kick it for Rick
Edited on Sun Sep-11-05 04:53 PM by darkstar
He's really got soul. To spare. He takes an unfair beating from some, but I doubt you all ever saw him live. I saw him at Southewestern Missouri State College's rodeo grounds on the "Forever Together Tour" in roughly 83-84 and it was AMAZAING. Seriously. I've seen them all from Elvis Costello to Bjork to Areosmith and this guy has a serious set of pipes !

He closed the show with a cover of "Tears of a Clown" that--I swear to God--blew Smokey's version out of the water.

Just kidding.....
