Larry Flynt Speaks On New Club, Lynch Photos

BALTIMORE -- The man who publishes Hustler Magazine is promising to clean up "The Block" in downtown Baltimore and protect Jessica Lynch's dignity.

Downtown Baltimore's block opens with a controversial heavy hitter Wednesday night as pornography publisher Larry Flynt is in town for the grand opening of his new club, The Hustler.

But that's not all he's talking about, WBAL-TV 11 News reporter Lisa Robinson reported.

Flynt said the mutlimillion-dollar gentlemen's club is what Baltimore needs to revitalize that downtown area and it's just what he's looking for.

"Baltimore gets a lot of transient business and it's what we're looking for in clientele along with the upper level locals," Flynt said. "I think this is the first step in bringing the block up."

While Flynt's not backing down on his belief that his club is good for Baltimore, he is backing down on showing the world Army Pvt. Jessica Lynch in the nude. Flynt said two of her fellow soldiers sold the pictures to him.

"They show nudity and topless and frontal nudity," Flynt said.

Flynt said he initially wanted to make money off the pictures and publish them. Then, he said, he had a change of heart after a lot of public outcry.
