So how do you say "Good-bye Friend" in French?

One of these internet translation sites gave me "Au Revoir Ami" but I want to be sure. This is for the title of a poem I'm working on for my creative writing class.

A poem dedicated to New Orleans.

I like the slightly longer phrase...why, I don't know...I think the French would be more likely to say it that way...

The french don't pronounce the "re" part of au revoir.

Or if you consider that "city," in French, is "la ville" (a feminine spelling), then it would be:

Not that my poem is romantic, it's more tragic.

But would it still be pronounced the same?

I can read Spanish and Italian, but French always throws me off because it's not phonetic.
