Does anybody play Dark Age of Camelot here?
And what kind of characters are you?

I'm an elf. I met someone in Hibernia last night, and his pickup line was: "I don't see many elves here."

I'm also a newbie. My brother bought the license as a gift. I hate to say it, but I'm sort of getting hooked. It's getting so bad that it's cutting into my DU time.

1. i have a couple of geek friends that are into it
I know one of them pretty much plays it exclusively. he showed it to me at a lan party and i thought it was kind of boring.. too much walking.

I'm worried about how World Of Warcraft is going to destroy my life when it comes out.

2. I played for awhile
Hibernia. I played Ranger characters mainly. I can't do MMPORPGs because I can't commit the time to them. I still have the account for DAoC though because I liked it so much. One day when I'm not working for the man I'll have the time to play games again.

6. You are so right about the time
Because I work and have a relationship with a real live person the next time I can spend a bunch of time on it is the Friday after Thanksgiving! I sat down the other day, looked up, and it was 12 hours later! I really like the Celtic flavor of it all, although apparently my reputation has been sullied with the leprechauns. (Knocked off one too many of their cousins, I guess.)

8. It's funny to see this
I bought the expansion but it is too much for my video card so I stopped playing until I upgrade and just today I was thinking I wanted to do it before the holidays. I think I'll have more free time during the winter to play.

3. tried it but couldn't get hooked
However I've put way, way, way too much time into EverQuest (400+ days of /played). Yes, I suck.

7. I hated EQ, too many 'weddings' and 'funerals'

4. I had high hopes for Camelot
but it kinda fell flat after a few weeks. I've been on EQ since Beta 4. I constantly leave, but have always come back. I'm still looking for a MMORPG that is heavier on Roleplaying and community, but have yet to find one.

I was a paladin (as usual).

5. I'm an EQ person myself, but my daughter plays DAOC...
... and EQ. In fact her guild operates in all three worlds (EQ, DAOC and IRL) and has regular In-Real-Life parties where members fly in from all over the world to get together.

9. The international aspect of DAOC
It's amazing to think that there are tens of thousands of people around the world playing the game in realtime. I met a character on there the other day. She asked me to group with her, and when I tried to explain why I couldn't, she replied: "I don't speak English."

Of course, in virtual reality that could have been her way of giving me the brushoff.
