Those of you that post on other boards.. do people think you're arrogant?
I occasionally post on a Radio control hobby board. They have an off-topic forum that is open to pretty much anything. I went round and round with many of these fools prior to the Iraq invasion. Needless to say virtually everything i've posted and warned about has come true in a most horrific fashion.

I regularly make the point that getting your information from corporate news leads to being misled and generally believing things that are untrue, or just plain stupid. a few of them point out my "arrogance" on a regular basis. I'll admit i'm preachy, but i don't talk down to people and i don't post in a pompous, derogatory manner. I just think conservative types think anyone with actual facts and the fortitude to not back down are labelled as "arrogant" "know it alls" etc..

Is this a common thing? i really only post here and there as far as political stuff goes.

here's a small example..

1. Not on boards, but in real life
I have been called arrogant because I have insisted on proper spelling and punctuation, and have been known to pronounce words correctly. Don't worry about it-it is an indication of someone who is very very uncomfortable with what you were saying.

2. heh
i'm not worried in the least. I was just curious if it was a common reaction to actual facts and level-headed argumentation.

4. I AM arrogant.
I got so tired of being called arrogant - generally because I know my facts and I'm not afraid to boldly speak the truth - that I decided I might as well BE arrogant. I've come to realize that it's very hard NOT to be arrogant when we're surrounded by so many incredibly stupid people.

If you met me in real life, you probably wouldn't find me arrogant - just self-assured. But I don't patronize people by saying I respect their opinions when they're full of sh*t.

5. ....
I get called arrogant everywhere, because I like to make jokes about my sexual prowess. Apparently some people don't like that.

8. who is it who reflects.
I have been soooo arrogant, that people just are stupified that i can be so vitriolic and eloquent in my ripping of the GOP on every board i get near. Its a good thing DU censors started deleting me, as it has inspired me to go abroad and "be arrogant".

In truth, i can control that perception by using "british english" rather than american english, that the british way of discussing things is less confrontational and allows saving face... just like a previous poster said, when they're a bunch of morons, what do i care what they think... its all foxTV propaganda, and the minds that repeat it cannot get to first principals as there never were any.... just egotism and anger.... and when pushed in to that GOP-ego-rage, the natural impulse of these neanderthals is to cry "arrogant anti-american" as without that breakpoint, their minds would core dump.
