17. ONLY grape juice, are you kidding?
after all, all the places in the Bible that use the word 'wine' referring to the common use of such translates to 'grape juice', whilst all the references that warn against 'wine' translates to a fermented beverage.

http://www.geocities.com/rhema6/alcohol2.html

NOTE: I don't actually believe this, I just wanted to toss it out there so we can make fun of it. How brainwashed do you have to be to believe this crap? How convenient that these words 'translate' this way.

I have to think he'd be an Amber Bock drinker :)

33. Remember, the Bible is inerrant
Except when they discuss Jesus drinking wine. The Bible says Jesus threw great wine parties, but the fundies will tell you Jesus wasn't a drinker and didn't condone alcohol use.

My opinion: Jesus didn't want dysentery any more than anyone else back then, which is what you got when you drank the water. Wine has alcohol to kill the dysenteric organisms, so it's much better. Remember, the Puritans (who hated drink like they hated the Devil) drank beer on the Mayflower.

Edited on Wed Nov-12-03 10:35 PM by DemoTex
I like the Yellow Tail Cab/Shiraz blend (Purple Lable). Cheap, and good. I think Jesus would have served it at supper. He must have had many suppers that we never heard about (before the Last, eh?) Dinner parties with his coterie. Dates with his girls. Sermons on the mounts, leaving a dry throat and a hungry belly. Miracles. I'll bet you Jesus drank as much wine then, as I do now!

28. Definitely not Manischewitz grape
That stuff is like drinking Nyquil spiked with more Nyquil. Why it's a favorite wine of Jewish rituals I will never know, although it probably has more to do with the fact that the synagogue can by it by the case for a couple of bucks (or so). My synagogue serves it during Kiddush and I swear I've actually grown hair on my chest after drinking a sip.

31. Why Manischewitz is favored in synagogues
The quality helps to regulate consumption. IOW, it's so bad you can't stand to drink that much of it.
