Is it appropriate to phone a guy |
|
if he was your friend at work but he got transferred to another job site and you haven't talked to him in a year and a bit and you're moving and you find his book but don't have his digits and you get them out of the phone book because he's listed under his full name and he already told you where he lives?

Drink a beer or a wine if you have to and phone him.

He was listed under his full first and last name and he had already given me all the landmarks around his house and exactly what intersection he lives at. He got into a fight with his boss the day he left and I had quickly wrote my phone number and he called me once to tell me he broke up with his girl some time ago (he could've hooked up with someone else since then, though) but my display was broken on my phone and I didn't catch his digits and I forgot to ask him for it and so I haven't talked to him in a while and was wondering if too much time passed since I last talked to him and if it would be too awkward.
I used to talk to him every day at work and I really missed gabbing with him.
I was thrilled when I found an article of his.

20. Wellll If you call him 16 times a day and park in front of his house |
|
that could be a problem..
But if you just call him to say hi... where's the harm?? The worst case scenario is that his wife/girlfriend answers, and even then you are just an old friend from work..
If HE answers and you still "click"..just say.."Hey, let's not yak on the phone.. meet me at ......... in 20 minutes "..
Who knows where things will go:)

Take a chance. I met my nutcase of a husband in a similar fashion. He was moving to a different city and had he not pick up the phone, this love story would be over.
We've had several wonderful & tumultuous years together and we don't regret any of it. We just had a big, fat fight tonight about nothing interesting but I know we will always be together. I hope to welcome you to our sick universe. :)

18. One of my best buds.... |
|
was living in the same town as me for about a year, he was one of my first friends when I moved to this town. Well, he moved pretty suddenly but all I had was an old phone number of his so I was pretty sure it wouldn't work anymore since he had moved up to Denver. Well, about a year goes by and I still hadn't heard anything from him and one night I was thinking alot about him for some reason and I decided to call the old number. Turns out the number was still the same, (cell number) and it was like we never quit talking after we got reaquainted. Go for it girly, I know thats not exactly like your current situation but what have you got to lose!

For sure, he's not married and there's no significant other living there. I called last night and his answering machine says, "Hi, I'm not here right now, leave a message."
I didn't leave a message. I'll try again next week. Should I leave a message?
I was going to say, "Hey, wanna go smoke a joint?" (I know for sure he's a toker).

I was on/with a date-from-hell, who showed up at the dance club 2 hours late, then told me to buy her a beer. Then she went off and danced with some other guys.
Just then a woman walked up to me, gave me her number, and said if I called her, she promised to treat me like I deserved to be treated.
7+ years and 2 kids later, she still rocks!
Needless to say, I like a woman who takes the initiative. Call Him.

I JUST CALLED HIM.
He talked like nothing happened, as my friend said he would. He didn't ask how I got his number (and I was stressing big time about this).
We talked for about 45 minutes about everything -- conspiracy theories, politics, our pets, corporate gossip, etc.
And while I was talking to him, it slipped my mind that I had a big ol' crush on him, talking about politics and conspiracies and how the price of grain influences the toy market in Taiwan. It really helps to talk about mundane things.
I could hear his voice tremoring while he was talking, which is weird because I thought that would happen to me because I'm the one with a huge crush on him.
He mentioned something about he had a girlfriend who had these animals (I forget what these animals are called again -- the ones that look like giant mice). But he mentioned that by the second batch, she wasn't his girlfriend anymore. No mentions of any other significant others.
And, at about 45 minutes, he said that he had to go get his laundry because the laundry room in his building closes at 11:00. But he adds in, "Hey, wanna go for a drink next week? I can't do it this weekend but for sure next week." I told him I'd like that and I told him that I really missed gabbing with him (which is true) and I could literally hear him blushing. He asked for my number (I guess so he wouldn't be like me having to look it up) so I gave him my home and cell numbers and said he would call and I added that I'd call him, too. And that's how the conversation ended.
I'M SO GEEKED :bounce:! AAAHHHHHHHHHHHH! But I'm also prepared that it might be nothing more than just a casual drink.
ON EDIT: Thanks, everyone. I never would've worked up the courage to call him by myself. It still took me about 3 hours sitting there looking at his number dialed on my phone before I could hit send. I had a glass of wine and it really helped.
