What music is on your workout mix tape/cd/mp3 group
I swear if I leave my mini-disc player at home I know I'm not working out at the gym. I need good jams in order to tolerate 90 minutes of absolute hell (well, trying to not treat exercise like that). And trust me, the crap they play over the loudspeaker is pathetic (unless you happen to be a teenybopper music fan).

So what is on your music workout collection? I have a sony minidisc (it's an MP3 player but with removable discs. I love the thing but it'll probably be replaced in the next year). I just made a new work-out disk that includes:

Alice in Chains
Nine Inch Nails
Audioslave
Linkin Park
Metallica
Green Day
Stone Temple Pilot
Smashing Pumpkins
Nirvana
Pearl Jam
Cake
Beck
Marilyn Manson
The Killers
Public Enemy
Beastie Boys
Enimen
Kayne West

What's your favorite workout music?

1. I just hit "shuffle" on my iPod.
If a non-workout-type song comes up, I just jump to the next song. :)

8. Grrrrrrrrr
Actually I've trained myself to eat a lot less, so when I was away from the gym for a year and a half (koff) I didn't put on TOO much weight. I did start resembling the pillsbury doughboy though. So, I'm working out again to at least firm up a little. ;)

31. Mine is really the weirdest: the Clash, the Chieftans, the Pogues and
some techno downloads from dolo amber! I know it sounds crazy, but bluegrass and Irish music make excellent work out music. I wouldn't recommend it for a treadmill, but for an elliptical, the Chieftans in Nashville is wonderful!

41. My only exercise is stationary bike and running
For the stationary bike, I watch soccer games I've downloaded from the internets. (One half a game is just over 45 minutes, a good length for a ride.)

While running, I want to be able to hear what's going on around me. It used to be the case that some guy would be practicing his bagpipes in the park while I ran. That's the closest I've had to a walkman while exercising.

On days where there was a mist, the bagpipe music and the sunbeams shining through the trees really made for a dreamlike environment. Experiences like that are why I run. The health benefits are secondary.
