What year did you see The Who do their farewll tour |
|
I was reading JimmyJazz's thread about 1982 and that she had seen The Who on their farewell tour that year.
I remember that in 1989 I saw The Who do another 'Farewll Tour'.
I've seen they've done a few additional ones since then.
So what year did you see The Who do a farewell tour?

worst concert i'd been to up to that point. at year's end, they did a review of the 5 worst concerts of the year, and the Who were at the top.

1974 i'm pretty sure. They used tape backing for the orchestral stuff. It was a train wreck. The Professor

16. I read about some of those shows. |
|
Sounds as bad as when Pete would stop the Tommy concerts to try to explain that lame plot.
I did at one time have a pretty good bootleg from some later 1974 Australian performance where they finally got the tape thing together and Pete had learned to keep his yap shut a little better beteween songs.

Yeah, that probably helped the train off the rails. But, the problems with the tape synch were tragic. That's clearly my favorite Who album (not their biggest fan, but like some of their stuff and loved that album), and it was most disappointing to have it be that bad. The Professor

2. Even though they are in my top 5 |
|
I have never seen The Who. I almost saw them on the first one with Kenny Jones, but I was denied because my sister changed her mind at the last second and went with her b/f instead of letting me go.
I think they are going to do their 23rd final tour soon though.

...with Entwistle and little Zak Starkey (Ringo's kid) imitating Moon very well. They still roared like the Who. They curled my hair.

5. Their first of many Farewell Tours was in 1982! |
|
Honest. Their last show was broadcast live from Toronto in early November. I think they toured again two years later. They had more farewell tours than Cher. :D

It was with Mick Ronson (as I remember) and the Clash.
Awful really, that they sold topmost tier tickets in the Kingdome to that. 15 hour drive for something I couldn't even see? The sound was terrible.
Taught me an important lesson about stadium shows: skip them.
