60. maybe no one born after 1979
"If their album sales didn't offer the final word on the band's popularity at the close of the '70s, a 1979 Gallup poll did the trick: The group was named America's most popular rock band. It's you babe, indeed."

11. Styx
is probably the most hated of the bands that I liked, although I think that they have way more "closet" fans than is generally acknowledged (after all, they have a pretty big fan base; they've got to be somewhere!). I also like Chicago, Journey, Kansas, Supertramp, Uriah Heep, and several other primarily seventies rock bands that everyone makes fun of.

Did you hear about him and his wife/partner each having partial sex reassignment surgery? They're attempting to become one asexual being, apparently.

That sounds like a very cool show! Psychic TV are also on the short list of good industrial stuff (along with SP and TG). They make NIN sound like the purile shite it really is.

Albiet I'm not suprised. Lately I have been going back to Industrial roots and influences (AKA Kraftwork being an influence type example), just because its really amazing to hear some of the older albums anew. Some of these albums really ring down through the ages.

57. I have a vinyl LP called "The Industrial Records Story"
which was a collection from the early 80s of some of the acts that were on Industrial Records like TG, Leather Nun, SPK, Cabaret Voltaire, etc. I think it's been reissued on CD, although I'm not certain.

Some of the stuff aged really well, suprisingly. Unfortunately my turntable died a couple years ago and I haven't had a chance to repurchase it on CD yet, but it's worth checking out.

16. Van Der Graaf Generator
Peter Hammill has one of those love it or hate it voices and he writes extremely loquacious lyrics about existential angst. At their best, the band sounds sort of like Kirkegaard set to avant garde rock with jazz inflections. I like it though.

Their first (I think) album with "Holdin' on to Yesterday" and "Nice, Nice, Very Nice" is very good. Yeah, they got a little slicker and more "Adult Contemporary" as they went on, but still made some good pop singles.

20. Here are mine
At DU, most mainstream country (Dixie Chicks and Patty Loveless get credit, but they are two of the best I've heard - artists like Tim McGraw and Shania Twain get bashed when they are entertaining to me)

Hootie And The Blowfish

Phil Collins

Some pop/rock (those that are thought of as teeny-bop, like Aly & AJ, but actually make good music. I'm still deciding if Emma Roberts is a guilty pleasure)

Some Britney Spears

I'm sure there are more..

74. Phil Collins
But I want to clarify that I don't like his new shit, okay? I am a big dork, but not that big of a dork!!! :D

I'm talkin' "Against All Odds", "In the Air Tonight", "Sussudio" and that "Follow you, will you follow me..." song (I don't know the name of that one.) The oooooold stuff.

I get made fun of big time because of my love for cheesy old Phil Collins songs. But I don't care!!

And I love Neil Diamond, too!!!

I just listened to the music, but never learned about the guy. His funeral was really weird. Yikes.

edit- Geez, Wikipedia is even more shocking than the funeral story I read. I still love his music, but man.....

90. Yeah he was a fucking nut case.
I went to see him one time and as the show started I wanted to go up front to get a better view and my buddy grabbed me and said "stay here" and I said "why?" and he said "You'll see". And see I did as the feces, blood and semen went flying and the fights erupted. Was one of the craziest things I've ever seen live, I was laughing my ass off all the way home. Hell, I'm still laughing about it now.

104. Agreed there!
His voice is refreshing IMO, after all the standard vocals.

Also, newer Liz Phair is hated, but I thought her self-titled album was solid. New song "Everything To Me" continues the pop direction, but adds a more devoted to the music vibe. I will be getting the upcoming album.
