How fucked up and weird is this?
Edited on Mon Sep-19-05 01:09 PM by VelmaD
Ok. So, about 2 weeks ago I got a credit card offer in the mail with my address on it but the name of an old old friend from back in college. We had lost touch and gotten back in contact several times over the last decade and this time probably hadn't spoken in nearly 2 years.

So I took the letter as a sign to contact him. Found out he's in the middle of a painful divorce and figured the universe just wanted me to get back in touch so he had a good friend handy to talk to about it.

Well, this morning I checked my mail...and there was a letter with my address and the name of his soon-to-be-ex-wife on it. Quel strange?

So I call him on the way to work and between us we figure out that I am currently living in the EXACT same apartment they lived in several years ago when they lived in Austin.

I'm used to getting mail for the person who lived in the apartment right before me...but I've lived there since last December and these are the first 2 pieces of mail I've gotten addressed to either my friend or the wife.

Of course, I had no idea when I moved in. But still...I think it's a really strange set of circumstance.

4. So...
I assume that you're back in contact with him now? Since he's going through divorce, I guess fate was telling you he needs a friend? Kinda cool, really.

5. I had no idea...
There have probably been at least a half dozen people in that apartment between him and me. (Lord knows I get mail for all of them too.)

7. First stage of an identity theft?
I lived at this place where the other dude started to get letters from my retirement account. His name with my last name. I confronted him on this like a Viking!

"So my bride, when the hell did we get married?"

"What? I'm the man."

"No! You took my last name."

It was weird. I think since his name is Luis, it may be assumed that he was a female. Instead of the shameless usurper.

The company told me a request form was sent by him. I moved out later that day and had all mail with any form of my name forwarded to me.

he just lived in the same apartment I do...only several years ago. We're both a little wigged out...but not in a bad way.
