But a combo of Sweet Potato with Pecans on the top is my fave. A nice warm piece with vanilla ice cream.
(You have to add a little bourbon to the sweet potato for that extra kick)

You and your anti-rhubarb agenda.
obviously, DU is a place where it's wrong to be bigoted against women, but apparently perfectly okay to be bigoted against those of us who love rhubarb.
I see no difference between those sins.
Fine.
Be that way.
How long do rhubarb lovers have to remain silent under the TYRRANY of apple-lovers? it's unfair, and I'm sick and tired of being forced to be quiet about my likes.
(I really, really, really do like rhubarb pie, though)

I like 'em all except cherry and coconut.
Love:
Chocolate and Lemon meringue (specialties here in the south), Key Lime (ditto), Sweet potato (better than pumpkin IMO), Pecan, and Missippi Mud pie.
:9 :9 :9 :9 :9 :9 :9 :9
edit: I'm taking a stand. I unequivocally state here and now that I prefer pie to cake. Pie is the superior dessert.

58. same deal for Blueberry Grunt... |
|
(you read that right!) blueberry grunt from Maine....a cross between a blueberry cobbler and a pie, thickened with (hold on) sharp blue cheese, which melts away into a cream cheese-like mousse that binds the wild blueberries to the buttered bread crumbs. Guests are slightly leary of it until their first bite...then a serious addiction sets in and everyone's writing down the recipe.

52. here's another vote for blueberry . . . |
|
used to have a great patch of blueberry bushes that were over 30 years sold and kicked out tons of berries every year . . . never had to tend them or anything . . . used to let the neighbors come in and pick as much as they wanted, let the birds have their share, and there was still plenty to keep me stocked through the winter . . . blueberry pies, blueberry muffins, blueberry everything . . . love 'em . . . :)
(sold that house many years ago, but I'll be the blueberries are still crankin' . . .)

Absolutely the best. My crust is the best, too. (Pardon my lack of modesty, but it really is.) Gravenstein apples have a short season, unfortunately.
Also like lemon angel pie, made in a meringue shell with lemon curd and whipped cream. It's heaven.
Does anyone use lard in their crust? I've been considering it instead of crisco but wonder if it handles differently.

59. My Key lime pie is different from "traditional" Key lime pies |
|
The "traditional" Key lime pie is basically Eagle brand milk with Key lime juice in it. Mine is more like lemon pie, but with a thick layer of whipped cream on top instead of a meringue.
I also make a killer chocolate pie with coconut in the bottom of the filling.
