The Trent Reznor of his generation. Composer of tedious litanies of insignificant grouses against life.
What a fucking creep.

Inside a heart scribbled in red ballpoint pen on the back of your five subject notebook, I hope.
Then this relationship would have some symmetry.

but I met Trent way long ago...
he sold keyboards here in Cleveland...
He sold me my first Midi computer program and spent over and hour on the phone talking me through the set=up....
Nice guy, overrated and way to dependant on shock....
Has a lot of talent....
A saner version of that other jerk off from Ohio, the kid from akron, what's his name, you know, freaked everyone out a few years ago....
Anyway, they all can trace their origins back to Alice Cooper.....
I wonder if Trent will turn republican and golf with alice someday....

If it's even half as good as Amused to Death, it'll be worth the money. And maybe, now that he's gotten this out of his system, he'll write some more conventional stuff.

Amused to Death is one of my favorites. On top of that I actually like a lot of real (i.e. not Andrew Lloyd Webber) opera.

Ca Ira was completed years ago.
I haven't heard it yet so I'll reserve my judgment. As big of a Pink Floyd fan I am, rock stars crossing over to a medium like opera usually produces disastrous results, like Paul McCartney's opera.

32. We had the Doors and their obscure crap, Uriah Heep and their |
|
hit or miss stuff, the Who, never as good on records as live, and a lot of Tommy Rowe. Rolling Stones were just a lot of posers, so we stuck with Motown, and Pink Floyd. Maybe it was just Detroit, and it's all subjective.

in the context in which you have posted them is because I can only assume that you meant to respond to the original post, and not to me. Since what you are saying has absolutely nothing to do with what I was saying.
But you are right - the 60s, like any period of music, had much more crap than good stuff.

35. Pink Floyd did not suck with Sid. |
|
He was trying shit, exploring sounds. It did not suck without him. Gilmore came in to mimic him but was a much better musician. The music got better. It did not suck. You have to hear it juxtaposed against the mostly dreck we were hearing at the time. You can't do that without a time machine so this whole argument is stupid. Sorry. I shouldn't have posted.

36. Ah, you missed my sarcasm, then |
|
Edited on Fri Sep-23-05 12:49 AM by Rabrrrrrr
I was pre-emptively making the argument of those who feel the need to make divisions in the music, such as "floyd suckewd pre syd" or "floyd sucked post syd", etc., which argument I was preemptively making I do not agree with.
This is the same pre-eptive strike that DS1 made a few posts earlier than mine, cf. his post with subject line that contains the word "bandwagon".
Because, you see, sometimes in threads like these (in which the OP makes mention of a specific musician, preferably one who had been in a famous band), we get the people who feel the need to point out what "sucks" and what doesn't about the band/bands that said person was involved with, post-, pre-, and while said person was in the band, as well as peripheral bands, the usual litany of gratuitous unrelated judgments on other bands.

39. AFAIK, it's called "Ca Ira" |

and it might be useful to hear the piece before condemning it. Philip Glass has written operas too, and some of them are quite stunningly beautiful. See "Akhnaten." I, for one, will be anxious to hear it.
