5. They could just be big ditchweed...

I've seen ditchweed almost that big myself, and the only kind of high you get from smoking that stuff (or so I'm told) is higly ill. I've never tried smoking it personally, though a roommate of mine had one in a flowerpot on top of his tv set, just to freak the mundanes.

(In case you're wondering, ditchweed is atavistic feral industrial hemp, leftover from about 100 years ago in areas that used to have a lot of hemp cultivation, but it's more likely a variant on cannabis indica than cannabis sativa.)
