3. Got your stuff on CD?
I live blocks from repro city in Burbank.
Here is my thinking-
Send me your track on CD and I will use my
burner to compile.
We'll get one of our fabulous artist DUers to
do the artwork and donate the product to DU
to sell...fun, fun, fun.

4. I have a couple I'd like to donate...
Though i would hope they would be AIF files and not mp3's... call me a snob-
and you'd be right. The "near CD quality" of mp3s... ugh- well I can tell
the difference...

keep me notified of developements, please! :)

6. The easiest way for me
to compile is CD to CD.
Digital to digital.
I think this could be mucho fun!

9. Do ya trust me?
If you only have one copy- I SWEAR to get it back to you,
and can even make you extra copies, so you have them.
Digital to digital transfer is always best.
However, since it is your only copy,
do you know anyone who can make a cassette transfer for you?
I can work with that too.
OR, better yet, look in your yellow pages for a recording studio-
they can make a dub for ya.

10. I'd have to check with the other performers
It is a live recording of a political prose poetry piece with music that I composed and play on.

But I would trust you.

dumail me.

I'm a Ram Dass fan, so I am here now. And will be here now.

But would Skinner let us sell it on DU as a fundraiser?

Probably have to hear it first, huh?

12. Struggling musician in Nashville...
Sure, I'd love to be on this CD! Please pm me with your address and I'll send you a copy of my band's demo CD. We're called the 8th Grade and we're kind of a cross between Ben Folds Five and Elvis Costello...I'm the bassist and I write a lot of the lyrics....this sounds like a cool project!

14. Count me in!
I just recently recorded my requiem to CD, and am happy to donate it to the cause of DU.

Just tell me how! It's 32 minutes, so obviously can't do the whole thing, but it's in small sections, so one or two or three or whatever of those could be used. So long as my name, my copyright, and my contact info goes out with it, in case someone wants to commission me to write some more... :-)

Also happy to donate artwork for the cover, too, if someone has the ability to scan, digitize, and otherwise muck around with it to make it digital. I only can do analog art in the meatworld.

29. All original stuff?
Beware of copyright law on cover versions (I hate to be a party pooper, but being a lawyer and all, I'd be remiss if I didn't at least warn you). Particularly if the compilation is sold as a fund-raiser for DU. It'd be a shame to try to help DU with something like this and actually end up causing legal problems.

I belong to an acoustic guitar forum that puts out a compilation every year called Plectrology, and they get copyright clearances on cover material.

That being said, I'd love to contribute, if you want a little bluegrass in the mix.

32. if the cover song has been previously publicly released
we would need to send a check fo 8.5 cents for each copy we manufacture to the publisher of record.

Then, we'd be cool.

If it has never been publicly released, we'd need permission and it could get more complicated.

the other end of the table? Ears aren't so good, couldn't hear it. But I saw a pic of it on the LA gathering recap page.
Ahem. Anyway, daughter has some stuff - classical, mostly opera, one violin piece. Interested?

I am reading this with interest but wonder how an opera Aria or recording of (for instance) "O Holy Night" or "O Devine Redeamer" would fit with all the other's work.

41. I'd like to get in on this

I have a cd duplicator that burns 7 discs at a time and would be happy to donate the first 50 discs. After that,I would donate my time and equip. to the task and only want to recoup the cost of the cd's and printing on the cd faces.

I would also like to contribute some material, but most of the good stuff I have recorded is cover material,so would have to pay liscensing fees through Harry Fox Agency.
