"Lost" -- I want spoilers! |
|
I never saw the episodes until this week and bought the DVD set to catch up. Great actors and creative writing.
For those who have been interactive fans, please get me up to speed. What is the buzz among the fans as far as what the monster is? I figure that it involves an elevator or air shaft, which is why the thing comes and goes without leaving tracks. But I find it difficult to believe that it involves airborne machinery because we don't currently have technology to do the kinds of things that are being done on the island and down below, where it probably originates from. The technology in the tunnels appears to be at least 16 years old.
Finally, I assume that the Black Rock carried a virus of some kind which may have exposed the Rousseau group. Which means that the Jack group should be coming down with some kind of illness next season.
Those are the only major items that I would really like answers to. I realize there is some kind of psychic connection that brings all these people together on that flight, but I can wait for that plot to develop.

7. I read them too, but I didn't learn anything that was revealing. |
|
It was just a lot of speculation in a thread meant for spoilers. I didn't read one thread that talked about the "monster," for instance.
We all know it's not a monster because it sounds mechanical. But from what I can tell, it leaves no tracks. They keep talking about tracking methods on the island, so you'd expect a monster to leave monster tracks to its lair, yet there are none nor do they ever talk about it.
Yet we know there is something underground, we know that something must be coming from underground and "moves" the trees and tall grass, without, apparently, breaking many branches nor leaving any tracks.
Though it sounds like a machine that's bi or tri or quad pedal, the absence of tracks suggests that we may be a little let down when we do finally discover what it is, unless this thing walks across the branches of the trees. But, again, you'd find broken canopy on the ground if that were the case.
The only answer is that it hoovers. Most likely it is controlled by remote, maybe even a computer-programmed machine that kills people without feeling emotional about it. But then it brings up a good question. How did that kind of technology land on an island that is using 16 year old technology?
The other possibility is that, like the polar bear, it is a manifestation of someone's imagination. The island has magnetic abnormalities suggested by the deviations with the compass scene. So, maybe these magnetic deviations amplify kinetic abilities in some people?
Well, kudos for the Lost creators for creating a fun mystery to cogitate about.

4. I am actually starting to consider that as my second theory |
|
my first theory involves the plane going down on purpose (by whom?) and the Iraqi being blamed for it (his face is famous worldwide) and this tragedy being used for political/military purposes.

5. Your first hunch is probably the right one. |
|
But I don't think Sayib had anything to do with it. There was a reason why the plane did go down. I found it odd that the pilot took the plane off course by 1000 miles without radioing in their location, but assuming that was an innocent mistake, the other possibility is that someone shot him down when he went over a particularly sensitive area.

On DVD. I'm going to nurse this out. Though it is tempting to watch them all back to back.

9. Good luck. I have tremendous self-control when it comes to denying |
|
myself high-ticket items, but when it comes to plots that require creative thinking, none, zilch.
I discovered the "Lost" series on Monday. By Thursday I had seen the entire series. By Friday night I had researched all the fan sites. I'm a bit obsessive that way.
