Britney Spears becomes more sleazy
http://wcco.com/water/local_story_317160840.html

New York (AP) Britney Spears likes masturbating so much, she's written a song about it. "The Touch of My Hand" is on her new album, "In the Zone."

Spears tells "People" magazine that "it's a positive thing to indulge in yourself in a sexual way." She says "guys can talk about it. Why can't girls?"

A month after Maryland's first lady apologized for saying she would shoot Britney Spears if she had the chance, a frosty response from the pop icon appears in a magazine to be distributed Friday.

"She probably needs to get laid," Entertainment Weekly quotes Spears saying of Kendel Ehrlich, the wife of Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr.

Mrs. Ehrlich's spokeswoman, Meghann Siwinski, smiled when asked for comment about the jab. "It's ironic, considering she's five months pregnant," Siwinski said of the first lady.

2. Posting before this gets locked
Wasn't there already a song about female masturbation? I support it 100%, but I think Britney's just cashing in on it.

6. why would this thread get locked?
I do not have a problem with mature discussions of topics relating to human sexuality. But when you are engaging in detailed discussion of specific sex acts, or asking for others to email you details of kinky sexual experiences, then we have gone too far.

I interpret this as sex talk is ok, as long as it's "within reason" and not X-rated? Or am I wrong in this interpretation?

5. Basically she already does pose nude...
it's her right to dress/undress I guess as she pleases, but IMHO too many of the young female pop artists are setting back women's rights by leaps and bounds by portraying themselves as objects (whether they realize they are doing it or not).
Give me someone who just wants to make music and does not feel the need to gyrate, hump the stage, etc. just for attention...

16. Give me someone who just wants to make music and does not feel the need to
...and I'll give you someone who can't get a recording contract in today's recording industry. Thanks again to MTV for making the TigerBeatability of a band more important than musical proficiency, lyrical profundity, and basic human decency. If Bob Dylan were nineteen right now he would not be able to get label interest unless he devoted himself to misogyny and mock racial outrage.

That said, I won't argue that this sets back feminism, but what in popular culture in the last 15 years hasn't set back feminism? I find rap's objectification of women worse than anything the comely Ms. Spears could produce, if only because at least she, like her mother Madonna before her, creates the illusion of being in control of her degradation, which, the Camille Paglia theory goes, somehow makes it okay (and no, I don't agree with Paglia, since after all I have a brain). Hell, even those warm wet holes on the "Girls Gone Wild" videos think what they're doing is empowering.

"And give us a girl, they're always the best, you put 'em on stage and you have 'em undress, some angel/whore who can learn a guitar lick, now that's what I call 'music!"

17. How is this sleazy?
A song about male masturbation wouldn't be considered sleazy, even if it were Marky Mark or some other hot guy.(forgive me for being stuck in 1990)

I'd also love to understand how the phenomenon of pop princesses sets back women's rights.

:dunce: "Well, I'm sorry, Mrs.Smith, although your resume is outstanding, I can't help but notice that you have breasts. While we used to hire women here, Britney Spears has shown us that women have breasts, and are therefore better suited to endeavors directly involving them. Have you considered a career in in the perverted arts? Allow me to give you the card of a friend of mine from college, he's a producer, very nice man. You do anal, don't you Mrs.Smith? You seem the type that wants to get ahead, ha ha!"

Somehow, I doubt it.

18. The Associated Press printed that?
"Britney Spears likes masturbating so much ..."

The Associated Press ... ?

Looks like Brit isn't the only one who has "lowered" her standards. But I guess once you dip into the gutter by lying about people like Al Gore and Bill Clinton, letting such a question see print just comes natural-like.

And we all want to be natural-like, don't we?
