1. "Hey Ridley, got a stick of Beeman's?" |
|
Chuck Yeager used to ask Jack Ridley for a stick of Beeman's before each test flight. I remember that from "The Right Stuff".
Don't know if it is still made, though.

"Sounds fair enough"
I always loved those lines because, for Mr. Test Pilot, there may not be a tomorrow.
The West Virginia accent makes it cool, too.

Is Chuck Yeager one of the coolest dudes alive, or what? One of my favorite museum visits was to the Air and Space Smithsonian - "Glamourous Glennis" is on display.

5. except that Chuck was a George Bush I endorser |
|
He had all this self-assured crap to spew about the Dem candidates. I find it sooo difficult to divorce politics in my opinions, unfortunately. Of course is it so surprising that Chuck is GOP? Nowadays most of the officer corp is GOP, about 8:1 GOP:DEM.

7. The Actor who played Yeager was the coolest |
|
Jessica Lange's husband....what's his name? Sam Shepard? I always confuse him with the Cleveland physician who was railroaded by the newspaper after his wife was murdered.

But, he's still one bad-assed individual. I'd sit and have a beer with him and talk flying (even though I know nothing). Besides, he might surprise ya with how he thinks these days...

lately I've noticed a lot of places have Beeman's, Blackjack, Clove and Teaberry gum. The label no longer says Beeman's Pepsin Gum though.

10. In an article i read a few years back... |
|
They were only going to make Beemans, BlackJack, and Clove twice a year. Some kind of marketing ploy.
I did see an empty box of Beemans at the store yesterday, so yhe stuff sells when it is out there.

It's put out as a nostaglia thing along with the black liqourice gum. It's in the grocery stores right now in a special display. Cross the border and load up. Or call a friend and have some shipped to you. :D
