3. aw, tell me you didn't fall for the elevator scene
when Santos was telling his story of what happened in Cleveland

10. I don't think we have to worry about that
I think we're safe on that one. I missed last week though...was on my way back home from the Rita-run. A friend taped it, but I don't have it yet.

7. I fell for it for a second
I thought they might be going for a McGreevey type deal. But alas, my gullibility ran out.

Good episode on whole. The leak scandal is getting more interesting and the campaign is playing out nicely.

8. good season so far
I've narrowed the suspects down to Margaret and Mary McCormack. Margaret seemed awfully fidgety when confronted with the possibility of going in front of a grand jury, plus, she has been in the company of Greg brock (who talked about leaving behind a baby...)

11. Would Margaret be privy to
such information? I think just being questioned by a federal investigator would make anyone nervous. Unless your name begins with "K" and ends in "arl Rove" and you know you have a reporter willing to go to jail for you.

13. The West Wing has always used music for effect better than any other show.

Nip/Tuck has been giving them a run for their money though.

14. Nothing to do with your post because I don't watch the show
But did you hear Jack McKeon retired? He will be missed.

15. yeah, i heard
it sucks, but i'm having mixed feelings on how much it may or may not have been his fault in their implosion and mutiny in the last week.

16. His time was up
He came in and took a young team with a dwindling fan base and absolutely no confidence and turned them into world champions. He was the oldest manager to win a world series and the team was the youngest team to ever win a series.

To me, it was the greatest baseball story ever, very Hemingwayesque.

But the team with no confidence grew up and he continued treating them as if they were children. That is his style. He's not going to change, especially at his age.

But the team was now like a teenager who did not want to be treated like that. So they took resentment and it created friction.

It's a story of huge generational and cultural gaps as well as egos. But as someone said in the article, "he was the right manager for the right team at the right time." Or something like that, I'm just going on memory.

Regardless, he will be missed because he did save the team, which as you may remember, had never fully recovered from Wayne Huzienga dismantling the team after the 1997 WS.

And even though he is gone, the young players, many who were not even born in this country and did not grow up hearing the stories of Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, were left with some invaluable baseball experience from an earlier era.

And even though they may have resented him at times, I'm sure they will always respect him.

On the other hand, the young team gave the old geezer something he never had in his five decades of baseball, a WS championship.

And let's face it, it's hard being a manager of a team that has a very fair-weather base and doesn't even have its own stadium. And as you probably know, the latest attempt at building them a stadium ran into a brick wall -- again.

I don't know how other cities with losing teams can build stadiums but the Marlins, with two WS championships in seven years, can not pull it off. It's fucking ridiculous.
