$10,141,000.00 for Serenity opening weekend...
Edited on Mon Oct-03-05 12:16 PM by 4_Legs_Good
I think it cost $50M to make.

It opened at #2 under the Jodi Foster film, so that's not bad. I hope it gets a lot of critical buzz and can move up a notch next weekend.

It would be nice if it at least doubled the budget so we can at least get a sequel out of it, if not a renewed TV show.

It was great to see the film on opening night with a theater full of fans. :)

2. danm. I'll have to wait until November
Unless I decide to be suicidal enough to buy tickets for the "double Feature night" in three weeks: all 14 episodes and the movie in one sitting. On the big screen

3. It'll probably profit.
Joss Whedon's pretty huge in Europe - has it opened there yet?

5. It opens in the UK on the 7th
I'm not sure about the rest of Europe.

it better make $50M here in the US, though. Gotta show Universal that it's worth the investment and then some!

Not even the series.

October 22th: the 16 hour Firefly marathon in most cities (14 eps + the movie; original)

Mid November: the (dubbed) movie and the DVD box

9. At least they gave us the DVD
(which also happened for Tru Calling). I'm really suprised that not even Sky One or the Sci Fi channel picked it up though.

12. Wow, I couldn't take the marathon.
I took well over a week just to watch the DVDs - it's great stuff, but I can't sit through that much of it in one shot.

4. It will make its money eventually
Between overseas and DVD sales it should be "profitable" some day.

Of course, no Hollywood film ever makes a profit. Not if you go by the cooked books anyway.

I am not a fan of this work but I always hope reasonably intelligent SF can thrive.

Still waiting for my Babylon Five movie. :-(

13. It is my considered opinion that you will love it.
I've already gone twice, and I never geek out that hard over a movie. It's just that good, is all.
