A student cut off his penis and tongue with garden shears while tripping on an hallucinogenic drug.

The 18-year-old German went into his garden and set about severing his organs after downing a tea made with the plant Angels' Trumpet.

The plant is a powerful and dangerous hallucinogen.

Doctors were unable to re-attach either his penis or tongue.

I don't know if the Angel's Trumpet story is true or not but I have heard of people trying to take it; it is poison although it is said that a shaman with advanced training may be able to take it. I prefer to respect the fact that I am probably not as evolved as someone who has devoted their life to the mysteries and that for me this plant is best enjoyed for its visual beauty.

Whenever there is a crack down on the safe stuff, then people who are driven to change their consciousness (OK, addicts) are still going to change their consciousness. I have not known anyone personally to try this plant, which is a legal and common garden plant around here, but in a similar vein I do know someone who would actually buy Pam for the purpose of inhaling it. He has permanent damage to his respiratory system, needless to say.

Illegal drugs can be quite a bit safer than the alternatives.

I know quite a bit about this drug.It is a witch's herb and was rubbed on the broomsticks so the women could "fly"

Castaneda writes extensively about it in conjunction with flying (paste made from the roots and rubbed on the body).

It was used by the Natives, I believe, in natural biological warfare - and hence its name Jimson weed (Jamestown weed). But my feeling is it is way too dangerous withour shaman supervision and no sharp objects.

A good friend ended up for weeks in a mental hospital for "observation" after getting busted for "eating shrubbery". It is extremely dangerous stuff.

But the biblical stuff mighta entered this poor dude's mind. I do not think it is fiction. I think he just wanted the intense feelings to stop. But he mighta felt "moved" by the spirit of the bella donna (which can also be a devil)

17. Could have been Datura or Brugmansia.......

Both are called "Angel's Trumpets" and used to be considered the same plant, but one is a woody tree the other is semi-hardy plant. They both contain some hallucinagenic properties, but Datura is used much more commonly for that purpose.

Probably not a good idea to try either one, although I grow both of them for ornamental plants.

I've smoked the flowers, which actually gives a rather mild buzz, not unlike marijuana. It is pretty unwise to consume very much of this plant though, as it does pack quite a punch in higher doses. The roots are the most potent part of the plant.
