Leonardo Dicaprio or Brad Pitt
I say Leonardo is more talented. Brad, while quite a babe, is still a bit like eye candy.

20. Catch, "The Basketball Diaries" and "This Boy's Life."..
Leo can act. When he get a part that calls for changes in personality where he has an awakening or growth, he's awesome. Titanic wasn't acting. It didn't really call for him to use his acting chops. That's not his fault. He made money and a name for himself.

I also thought he was good in, "The Man in the Iron Mask." I found myself really really disliking Louie. Then I realized, I disliked Louis because Leo did a good job of playing him as an unlikeable fellow. On the other hand, he played Philip as very likeable. It was like watching two separate actors.

7. It think Pitt is a very good actor
He's not one of my favorites to go see, but when I do see him, I think he's one of the most natural actors out there. Very impressive.

Leo was good in "Gilbert Grape".

8. Both have great moments and less than great ones
Leo has been getting very good. Catch Me If You Can is wonderful and he was great in it. Brad was great in Seven, Thelma and Louise, and Fight Club. The real actor among the lookers was River Pheonix. Until the drugs took over he was astounding.

10. After seeing 12 Monkeys and Snatch
I was impressed as hell with Brad Pitt; he's a really talented comedian. Seriously! He's much better in a role like that than one that just makes him the flavor-of-the-week pinup boy.

I've only seen diCaprio in a couple of things that impressed me; Gilbert Grape, of course, but also This Boy's Life. A lot of talent. His looks aren't to my taste, but I wouldn't exactly kick him out of bed.

Johnny Depp trumps 'em both, both in looks and in talent.

Edited on Fri Nov-14-03 10:04 PM by nomaco-10
Leo just doesn't do it for me. He looks like such a baby. I thought he was completely miscast in Titanic, Kate Winslett looked like his mother. Brad's OK, and definitely the better actor of the two, but I like the brooding, dark good looks type myself, a young Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas with his hair washed, that type. lol

22. Leo is OK
I think he's wasted his talent though. The last intense work he did was WEGG. In some ways Titanic was not a good thing. It wasn't a challenging role to start with. Leo has gotten complacent. I hope he starts choosing more challenging stuff.

JD, OTOH, has always choosen roles based on what he believed he could do with the part. He likes taking risks in his work. I've read several interviews with him over the years. Several times he's said about a particular role "I was afraid they would fire me..." Most recently he said the same thing about Pirates of the Carribean.

He's got guts.

18. They don't do it for me
They look like little cutesy pretty boys. Sorry. Leo has such a baby face and Brad, well, he's probably a good 7 or 8 years older than me, but he just looks to cutesy for my own taste. This is what I like:

Ahhhh, Tim!!!!

Or my current crush of the evening (well the past few months actually) after watching Now on PBS (and I used to swoon over his voice on NPR):

David Brancaccio! Best news magazine hunk!

29. Fav quote about Johnny Depp. Ever.
Johnny Depp, so often described as androgynously beautiful, is really more like a male cat, a creature so sure of himself that his more masculine traits aren't the first things you notice about him. You can see it in the way he underplays every role. Sometimes you look at him and you think he's not doing much at all; then you realize that what he's doing is so economical and so understated that you can't afford to take your eyes off him for an instant. He wastes no line, expression or arc of movement. Like those ancient inky creatures painted on Japanese scrolls with just two or three strokes, he's both the suggestion and the essence of feline masculinity, all implied muscle and Zen intelligence.

- Stephanie Zacharek, Salon April 19, 2001

I just can't find anything to top it for summing up how Johnny does it. If you see anything else more magnificent than this, let me know! ;-)
