the quote about chinese being short because of wind
I'm trying to think of that ignorant quote (from a sportscaster?) that goes something like "Blacks are tall so they can reach up and get bananas in the trees and Chinese people are short because they live where there's a lot of wind and would get blown over if they weren't short."

Does this ring a bell?

2. Yeah, Well My Mother
seriously used to think that Chinese ate bean sprouts because they were always hungry and couldn't wait until the plants grew up. At least that's what she told me when I was a kid.

Judge Kenneth Hoyt:

http://66.12.145.114/vf/hoyt.html

Judge Hoyt was the federal district court judge who presided over the Kennedy Heights trial in Summer 1997. He was a Republican appointment to the Houston bench of the Southern District of Texas.

"Why do you think Chinese people are short? Because there is so much damn wind over there they need to be short. Why are they so tall in Africa? Because they need to be tall. It's environmental, I mean, you don't jump up and get a banana off a tree if you're only 4 feet. If you're 7 feet tall and you're standing in China, then you're going to get blown away by that Siberian wind, aren't you?"
