To all the low-carb people..
russel stover's low-carb candy..

it friggin rocks!! i've become addicted to the toffee squares, they are .2 carbs for a square. they are damn close to a heath bar.

also good are the chocolate covered mints.

i've been eating one or two a day and i'm still in ketosis, and i get to indulge my sweet tooth which always seems to appear on atkins.

anyway, thought i'd give this a thumbs up since many atkins-friendly sweets suck so horribly.

had fried chicken with that pork rind breading tonight, it was very good and crispy.

1. I like the RS French mints
Very good. Just a word to the wise for those who want to go overboard. You will get gassy if you do because the sugar alcohol that doesn't affect your blood sugar does so because you don't really digest it and overindulgence will do a number on the gastric system.

2. What sugar substitute do they use?
Splenda or the one that has a "mild" laxative effect? That "mild" laxative effect gets me every time, which annoys the hell out of me since I normally have a cast iron stomach and digestive system.

4. Malitol is the culprit
It has a very strong effect on both me and my husband. Even after one candy bar! If that is a mild effect, I would hate to see a strong effect.

I did not know russel stover had low carb, I will have to check that out.

3. Low-carb beer
Just bought a new one - Rolling Rock Light, aka "Rock Green Light".

They push it as low carbohydrate. Been waiting for RR to come out with a light beer.

Not bad, but a little weak tasting. Similar to Bud Light, aka the mineral water of beers.
