Should very small children be allowed to observe childbirth? |
|
One stormy night the neighborhod lost power. The only person to answer the call for assistance in a child birth situation was a paramedic. He asked little 3-year-old Katie to assist him by holding a flashlight so he could see what he needed to do. Katie did a good job. With a good PUSH PUSH PUSH from the mother the little boy baby was delivered. The paramedic held the little up by his heels, spanked his bottom and made him cry. After cleaning everything up he congratulated Katie for her assistance and asked her what she thought about what she had seen. She said "Well, he had no business crawling in there in the first place so smack his ass again."

Thanks for the evening funny, Zomby! :hi:
Most little kids do very well, actually. They dig the "ick" factor.

2. I started to say no one should have to watch it, but now |
|
I say let more kids watch.
That was a good one. I like that kid's perspective on the situation.

3. funny, but seriously, yes, children should be able to attend, if |
|
the parents prepare their child properly. I have personally attended a home birth, attended by all the siblings. Ranging in age from 2-12 (these were twins being born, children number 5 and 6). It was amazing.
I think birth should be a family event.

But in answer to the question, I think teenagers should be forced to observe childbirth. :hi:

9. Good idea, skygazer! I'd add to that... |

Care for a newborn for one week! I think most kids think it's just a doll you get to dress up in Burberry and tote around town like a Louis Vuitton handbag - and he/she never burps, pukes, craps, pees, or does any of the other nasty things kids do) :P
