1. They do write some nice hooks
Even that piece of shit "yellow" or whatever it was had a hook--but to me they sound like a -really- poor man's Zombies. I think they may even have covered "She's Not There"--but whateverhisname's falsetto just can't dance with Blunstone's. That said, I would take Speed of Sound ANY fucking day over the "zombies'" latest effort. At least Colin can still sing, I guess.

:cry::cry::cry:

4. It's odd you should say that. I was talking to Stephanie about it and I sa
whatever the singer's name is sounds like it's effortless to him. That was exactly the way my friend Russ and I described Colin Blunstone on Oddessey and Oracle.

9. I like Coldplay, Chavez
it reminds me of a certain fuzzy vocal recording sound from my youth. I have received quite a bit of crap due to my tolerance of them, too.

3. I liked 'em better when they were called "U2."
And even then I thought they sucked.

Actually, they're capable of writing some nice melodies in a kind of sub-Britpop mold. Chris Martin pens some of the worst fucking lyrics in the history of stuff, however: "I drew a line/I drew a line for you/and it was all yellow." Wow, thatnks, dude! I needed an all-yellow line to complement those all-yellow stars you gave me.

Oh well, they're probably eating more money for breakfast than I'll see in a lifetime, so who's the fool?

23. I enjoyed it.
Thirty years of misconceptions I had accumulated were located and erased.

I feel much more confident after only one lesson and there are still 6 to go.

What can I say, I..or rather WE, had fun.

up set cause Wham was getting all the chicks and publicity while they were not...

Some reported shoved a mic in the guys face and asked himwhat he thought ot Wham!....

HE replied, we are a million times heavier that Wham!....

I lost a bit of respect for them that day....

12. well
this woman in her mid-40s listens to the Horrorpops, does that make me "trying to be hip?

I was only hip for maybe about 5 minutes in the early 80s. If even 30 year old women! need to try to be hip, we are all in trouble. ;)

I like Coldplay but I like Keane and The Killers better.

I don't know if I was ever hip. Maybe briefly in my 20s.

Excellent light show reminiscent of something U2 would have done. I really enjoyed it. They even did a tribute to Johnny Cash and performed Ring of Fire. No shame in digging the 'Play in my book. I think Parachutes is a classic album....rock solid from start to back.

Edit: more and more typos

19. Not a big fan, but I don't hate them either
They just kind of put me to sleep. Their lead singer's style sounds just a little too drugged out on 'ludes for me.

disclaimer: I am not, in any way, implying that Coldplay's lead singer takes ludes. He just sounds like he does.

24. That about sums it up for me.
I don't know if i would say the lead singer sounded like he was on ludes, but i do get a whole subdued feeling from them. So yes subdued and boring for me but not terrible.

I like music that shows a lot of hard raw emotion and i just don't feel that from them.

20. Rush of Blood to the Head
was a great CD. I listened to them back before Parachutes was released. I saw their music video for Yellow which was released before the CD came out and did some file sharing fun to find more of their music.

But Rush of Blood to the Head was an excellent CD. I have even heard Clocks remixed to various techno and dance style beats and it still sounds good.
