There's nothing wrong with a little harmless fun on almost any topic, but those threads did get WAY over the top for a couple of days.

He had to end it then and there. Later, he may allow an occassional thread on the topic as long as it dosen't get out of hand again.

I agree with Skinner's decision to ban sex threads for awhile. The polls were out of hand. This kind of stuff happens in waves... new crop of DUers come aboard, new sex discussions. Not that I didn't participate in many of the threads myself, but some of them made me a bit uncomfortable. :shrug:

I agree that every time we get a slew of new people this happens and I agree it was getting a little weird on some of the threads.

I don't agree with Skinner unilaterally cutting off threads about sex. I figure it would have died down on its own in another day or two anyway either because we ran out of topics or because people would get bored with it or because the rest of the DU community would step in and gently nudge people back into line with the long-term community norms. For the admins to simply ban the topic by executive fiat just pissed people off.
