And Al Newman is going to Arizona as a scout.
I held out hope that I would one day see Matthew LeCroy hit for the cycle (HAHAHA). I figured after Luiz Rodriguez and Little Nick Punto both hit homeruns in the last game of the season that, hey, it could happen!
I am particularly pissed about Mays. This was his first year back after Tommy John surgery. Granted he was not what he had been, but he was technically still rehabbing.

man, looks like we (the Twins) are about to embark on a time similar to the late 70's through the mid 80's.
x(
At least the Dodgers have a decent ballpark (I have been there).

He loves our stadium. He said that if the Dodger owner had his way he would level it, and build homes. Or at least that is what he heard his dream is.
Any other possible hopes for your Twins? Maybe a final hour save of some sort...
I hate to think it's all over for them. :(

12. Actually we have a good GM |
|
I am sure there are some big picture things going on that will help.
We are still likely to get a new stadium, (not for sure, but likely) so I think the team will be okay.

though the scuttlebutt is Mays will be offered a much smaller contract to come back next year. Can't figure out why LeCroy couldn't crack the lineup as a regular DH. He's as slow as a three-legged turtle, but he had a nice HR to AB ratio and a home run hitter is what the Twins have been crying for for years.
This organization needs a BOPPER and to get beyond pounding Tom Kelly small-ball into every hitter's head. Wouldn't David Ortiz have looked great in a Twins uniform the last three years? In Boston they told him to swing for the fences and go for it. Couldn't have any of that here, and they neutered one of the scariest sluggers of the last ten years. Big Papi is lucky he wound up with the Sawx. Kelly may be gone, but the memory lingers on, unfortunately.

I think Tom Kelly was manager for about 5 years too long!
I loved David Ortiz. And I agree about Matthew LeCroy (I jokingly held out hope for him hitting for the cycle! )

19. Kelly has not been the manager since the 2001 season |
|
Ron Gardenhire is the manager...he is much more fiery than Kelly ever was.
Case in point: Tom Kelly maybe got ejected from games he managed 3 times during his career as manager. Gardenhire got ejected at least 3 times in April and May of this year.

23. If the ump gives a mutual warning after a bean ball, he'll get ejected. |
|
Guaranteed. He HATES that. So funny. He wants his team to have a crack at retailiation. That's why. lol

He does have the team's back as far as bad ump calls, unlike Tom Kelly who used to just sit there and let the player get ejected.

25. I don't blame him. I hate it when they do that too. |
|
It takes away the inside from the pitcher who didn't do anything. It's a disadvantage. That and I wouldn't mind seeing one of them get plunked by a 90mph fastball before getting a warning. lol.

20. Oh Kitchen........I feel your pain. |
|
It's going to get worse too my dear. Jacque won't be back either.
THe only one I was really pissed about was LeCroy. I really liked that guy and I could never figure out why they wouldn't let him swing away in the DH more often.
I could care less whether we got rid of Mays or not. He's due to make waaaaaay too much money next year, and we'lve already got enough arms.
Glenn Williams will be invited back to spring training, and Tyner has been a Journeyman his whole life.
I think we'll be alright next year though. We need a bat, and with the money from Mays and Jacque freed up, I bet we snag a couple. We need both 3rd and 2nd basemen and there will be some on the market this winter.
THe Neuman thing was a bummer too. SOunds like he and Gardy didn't get along philosophically. Oh well. Maybe we'll get a REAL hitting coach and put Ulger at third base instead. LOL.
Cheer up. Our pitching staff is going to be insane. ;-).
