Jim Hightower's speech was incredible! |
|
I saw him here in Houston last night, and he really energized me. I highly encourage anyone who gets a chance to go see him--he's going around the country, doing fundraisers for local causes (here, it was for Texas Observer magazine and for the local Radio Pacifica station). He's right-on, yet he keeps it witty.
He had a few catch-phrases that I really liked. He said he saw a button at a rally once that said "Wearing a button is not enough". I liked that. The other thing he said was that even the smallest dog can piss on the tallest building. I'm going to remember that one.
I wore my DU shirt with the "no W" sign on it, and got many, many compliments. Made some new friends, too!

"theives in high places" is a great read, funny, fact-filled, and inspiring. lots of stories of how people stood up for themselves, and beat big brother.
